      The Artificial Intelligence and Education (AI-ED) is an ever-growing
      research area. It uses artificial intelligence tools and techniques to
      provide the foundations for intelligent tutoring and learning systems. The
      main research objective consists of using computer based technology to
      examine processes of cognition, decision-making and problem-solving, and
      thus supports innovative teaching and learning systems. For this book, we
      seek original contributions on any aspect related to educational
      intelligence and smart machines for education. Experience and applications
      of artificial intelligence to real-world educational system are also
      welcome. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

      * Intelligent Tutoring Systems
      * Knowledge Modelling
      * Adaptive Learning Methods and Systems
      * Virtual Reality Modelling in Education
      * Intelligent Pedagogical Agents
      * Collaborative Learning
      * Assessment Systems
      * Intelligent Curriculum Development
      * Real-World Experiences of AI-ED

      The time schedule for this publication is as follows:

      * Manuscript submission: January 13th., 2006
