- Hello everyone,
My daughter also has the tight elbows. She is 5 will be 6 in sept. We
have found alot of ways to adapt things for her. As she gets older
her arms seem to get looser, and she finds things to adapt on her
own. We use angled utensils since she has little movement in her
elbows.. Emily is unable to grip things as well.(clubbed hands)but we
found a way to help that.. We use a small foam paint roller, take the
metal out of the center, and run a strip of velcro through the center
and secure it to her hand. then the spoon or fork fits snuggly in to
the foam roller. They get messy but they are so cheap that we always
keep a few on hand and just throw the messy ones away.. We just
figured this out about a year ago. And she just keeps getting better
and better at using them it just takes practice..
If the food she is eating is finger food we just cut up the food into
bite size peices and she bends her head down to the plate and feeds
it to herself.
I hope this may have givin you some ideas...
Take care Joni
