      Dear Art Educators,

Anne Rose-Phillips posted this book to Getty list.

      From Anne:
There's also a cool book called
Insides, Outsides, Loops and Lines by Herbert Kohl
that has a section on map coloring including
activities for kids to figure out the rules and games
etc. (Apparently you never need more than 4 colors)

It also has other drawing activities such as Sona dots
drawings from Africa, closed curves, stretched shapes
and mobius strips. Altogether an interesting book that
      blends mathematical principles with drawing.

Check your state curriculum - Discrete Mathematics -
to see how it applies. New Jersy Curriculum is online:
      http://www.state.nj.us/njded/frameworks/math/math12.pdf

This book can be used at many grade levels and it
listed as a resource. Might be a good one to get for
      your school library.

      Regards,

      Judy Decker
