You are very lucky to have aides and helpers...we don't:(

Pre-K was added to my load this year and it has been a challenge to find things that they all can do. I have a 3-5 year old class and a 4 year old class.
The nice part about our preschoolers at our school is that they come with 2 aides or parent helpers. That has been incredibly helpful. So far, we have learned the elements and now we are working on putting the elements together to make pictures.
I almost always read a story or show them a powerpoint that gets them into the topic a little bit plus it gives me a place to start. (The Squiggle, Mouse Paint, The Dot, etc.)
I have done several lessons with printing using household items, tracing, cutting and gluing as they really need to learn basic skills like that to prepare for kindergarten.
I agree that most of the books for preschool are too crafty for what I wanted the kids to know before they get to kindergarten with me.
I have been told it sounds like I will be adding preschool to my K-6 art classes. I do not want to do crafts with them. I want them to be exploring art but am unsure of where their abilities are and what to expect of them.
