Multi-age elementary art curriculum and assessment question
- Hi everyone!
My district has four elementary schools that are all going to have at least one section of multi-age students. None of the schools will have the same combo of students, however. They are K-2, 1-2, 2-3 and possibly a 3-4, as well. This makes sharing assessments tricky.
I taught the 2-3 section for the past 2 years, but the others will be starting new. I student taught for one quarter in a 1-2 room, but have no formal training in multi-age groupings - and neither do the other teachers in my district. It's new to most, and everyone is really just flying by the seat of their pants, and doing research on their own. When I've tried contacting other art teachers who teach multi-age students, I've gotten no response.
The specialists (Art, music and PE) are being asked to write targets (outcomes/objectives) for the multi-age classes. I've been trying to find examples for curriculum and assessment online for the past couple of years with no luck. I've been doing ok, but would LOVE some input - especially because my colleagues are looking to me for guidance.
So, does anyone have any ideas to share or resources to suggest? I'd be forever grateful!
