Advocacy Coordinator for Arts Education, Americans for the Arts

The Arts Education Program Coordinator, a member of the Government & Public Affairs Department at Americans for the Arts, is responsible for using the tools of advocacy, research, and professional development to strengthen the network of arts and education leaders who can then affect change in arts education programs and policies at the local, state and federal levels.

The Arts Education Program Coordinator serves as the primary arts education knowledge resource for the organization, and with a particular awareness of trends in education reform.  The Coordinator is aware of key programs at the state and local levels, new and existing research, arts education policy, and has a knowledge about and ability to articulate how arts education relates to critical issues in education reform, including, but not limited to, the development of the 21st century workforce and global competitiveness. The position also manages the Arts Education Network and its elected Council to ensure the implementation of programs and service to advance arts education leaders throughout the country.

A bachelor’s degree is required and an advanced degree in Education, Public Administration or related field required is preferred. Three to five years of professional experience in arts education policy or education reform would be an appropriate fit, with a strong interest in advocacy.
