I would like to have my grade 6 french class students create 2 puppets each that they could use to practice using the French expressions they have learned in class. I don't want the puppets very large or fragile--something they could keep in their desk would be ideal. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am not an art specialist.
- I've done finger puppets with kids using model magic. Just have the kids form the material around their finger and sculpt by pushing, pulling, rolling, twisting...even cutting with scissors. It's an ideal material for small classroom projects, air drys and is paintable with basic watercolors, tempra or acrylic or markers. When dry you can hot glue anything to it. It's super clean.. NO mess and it comes in the primary colors or white. You can order online or pick up at most craft stores. If you buy in the small packages.. one package per student would be ideal or a small ball if purchased in the larger, more economical tubs. You could also shape the puppet on the end of a pencil if finger puppets don't appeal.
- Wooden SPoon puppets are some of my favorites ... you can use kitchen spoons for larger sturdy ones, or small ice-cream wooden spoons for smaller ones. A little marker drawing for faces, a little yarn glued on for hair, maybe some googly eyes. FUN and very expressive. On Jul 6, 2010, at 12:41 PM, leducrhonda wrote:
- rhonda, a quick and sturdy puppet is still a paper plate bent in half.Get red felt and glue inside the whole mouth (top and bottom).kids add hair. Eyes can be anything - ping pong balls (a little$)googley eyes set on cardboard attached to top of mouth works, too.Emphasis is on the mouth. kOn Jul 6, 2010, at 12:41 PM, leducrhonda wrote:
