Hello everyone. I have been absent from the board for a while. I am returning and seeking
advise, websites, and any information that will assist me with the new wrinkle in my art
education career. The public school that i teach in is making the transition to an all
Montessori method school. I have an issue with the Method teachers at the moment because
they want me to teach the 3 year olds and I am not licensed to do so. But I digress. Any
assistance would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks to all and have a good year.

I'm not familiar with all the licensing restrictions, but may I ask,
are you uncomfortable teaching 3 yr olds because you have no idea what
to do, or because there is is some legal issue where if one got paint
in their eye your license wouldn't cover it?
Three year old, imho, are one of the great ages because everything
fascinates them. Mixing colors to make a secondary color is like
magic! They get so excited :) Play some nice slow music to add calm to
the room, make sure you limit the number of instructions to about two
steps at a time, and just allot more time for any "project". I still
introduce artist to this age. I have no idea if they remember them,
they don't seem to be able to repeat any names back to me, but I don't
        usually ask.
I love the Montessori method personally, but I also know that
Montessori teachers have special licenses and special training,
usually finished up with an internship in Italy.
Perhaps if you described just what you want advice on.....
        Regards,
        Brandy

with the Montessori way- less lessons more experiences. Good luck,
          sounds exciting! ALi

There are several art teachers on that list who are in Montessori schools and their
administrations have been very positive about the various connections between the two
            practices.
