I got my art teaching position following a stint as a teacher's assistant, I think it's a great opportunity especially if you know that the school has a potential opening for you in the near future.

      Hello again Group,

Thank you for your recent advice concerning my possible long-term sub employment. I have another quick question for you. Because I am limited as to where I can work (I am not willing to moving out of our area), I will probably have to wait a few years before a full-time teaching opening becomes available. Would it be detrimental to my career if I were to take a position as a teaching assistant? There are quite a few openings in my area and I am considering applying for them so that I can work in an educational setting while waiting for a teaching position. Would that be a wise thing to do? Or would I be looked over as a candidate for a teaching position because I haven’t the experience of a teacher? I do sub, but the income is too haphazard for me. Decisions, decisions.

      Thanks for your help!

      Best wishes,

      Jen in NNY
