I have been a moderator of the community since there were less than
1,000 members...but it has grown incredibly.
Many forums speak of the golden means....from Composition forum, Oil
Painting forum and so forth.
If you go to one of the main forums, there will be a search feature
at the top of each page...and you would type in
"golden means" and hit go...
many many threads, discussions, examples will come up.
Basically...while a good deal of math can be involved, if you divide
the painting into thirds going vertically across, and thirds going
horizontally up and down....there will be four points created where
those lines cross.
Ideally, any one of those four points become the proven ideal for
where a major focal point of the subject should be composed to lie.
It is ideally suited for asymmetry...
