Re: [art_education] swimsuit torsos
- That really sounds fascinating. I can think of a dozen things to do with them. What do you have planned?I have done a project where my middle school students traced each other on kraft paper and then selceted a hero and dressed themselves(on paper) and painted themselves into that peronality. It was lots of fun and a way to take a kindergarten projec and make it grow up.Renah Bell----- Original Message -----From: Kris FontesSent: Monday, September 01, 2003 5:41 PMSubject: [art_education] swimsuit torsosI just spent the afternoon folding bathing suits at Sam's Club. The management told me that if i didn't mind folding the suits, then I could have all the plastic forms. (The entire time I was taking the suits off the forms and folding them, I kept thinking about how mortified my 17 yr. old daughter, katie, would have been if she had been with me). People kept asking me if i worked at Sam's, must have been the red sweater I was wearing. Some people even stopped and helped me!I have about fifty of the plastic forms. I plan on doing a lesson with the language arts teacher. She teaches an elective called the Ophelia Project, which teaches self esteem, anger mangement, etc. to teenage girls. We'll keep you posted as the project progresses.Anyway, go to Sam's and just ask - they couldn't have been nicer. Thanks to Sharon for the idea to get the forms in the first place!
