"INDIA" Republic of the unseen by Pritish Nandy
- Pritish has lately been addressing the issues India has willfully preferred to ignore since independence, save in paying lip service at the polls.
This is where we the "privileged" for reasons of our fortunes or pedigree may have an opportunity to make a difference.
Rather than quibbling over cutting the "t"s and dotting the "i"s won't it be more meaningful to do something that can transform lives around us? Not in the way that appeal to our heart and help us make great by throwing a piece of bread or a few pennies or rupees at someone who has the same entitlements as any of us and is denied that by designs of nature of society. Rather in a way that lend them the dignity that we crave, over the next 20 years, a step or more at a time and help transform our nation as a land of invisible majority to a nation where everyone can stand with dignity and contribute as much as they may find worthwhile?
Let us not forget that its not about giving things that keep them where they are. Its about helping them explore their own potential whatever that may be. Einstein was not born to a nobility or nobel winners. And we do not know where our next Einstein is being denied an opportunity to discover himself/ herself.
