    Press Release

Acquittal of Sajjan Kumar : The court verdict is strange and unexplained.

The Socialist Party expresses its deepest disappointment at the acquittal of Sajjan Kumar in
the 1984 riot case. The Socialist Party finds it strange and unexplained how the same evidence
which found other co-accused with Sajjan Kumar guilty of murder, was not relied upon to hold
    Sajjan Kumar guilty.

We fully understand the disappointment and anger of the relatives of those who were killed in
this one of the most shameful incidents happened during the Congress party rule.

We would immediately demand that the state government should file immediately appeal in High
Court against this painful acquittal. The party also demands that for prosecution of appeal
and connected matter the government should appoint an independent public prosecutor, after
consultation with the relatives of the victims of gory murder.

The Socialist Party extends its heart felt sympathy and full support to the friends, relatives
of the victims and assures them of its full continuous support.

      Dear Dr.Prem Singhji,
We salute you for taking the stand. Here is something to ponder !
Two most powerful, brutal and deceptive tools of colonialism created by British colonial rulers to enslave Indians are Police and Judiciary. Millions of poor Indians of post British India have died in ignominy with the injustices perpetrated by these two Institutions with complete immunity to accountability. People heading these two institutions are acting like chameleons and turned these mammoth corrupt institutions into biggest parasites on poor Indians. No anti corruption political revolution will ever happen in India, until we revive and strengthen our society and completely boycott both above criminalised and corrupt institutions and substitute the need of these corrupt institutions with formal social control mechanism of local communities by organising and empowering them. The people of India long back rejected both these institutions and public apathy to victims of violent crimes is testimony to this rejection. It is now Time for communities to rise and Organize/Empower against these two anti democratic institutions, we are starting it from Kashmir and will not rest till we stretch it up to Kanyakumari to demand Repeal & Reform anti democratic working practices followed by the incumbents of the offices of these two institutions with the Mantra: Repeal,Reform,Retrain-Perform or Perish, it's Power to People. India's transition to democracy ceremonially begins from Srinagar for people's freedom from last colonial yoke the black colonial laws. Journey for Justice begins from 4th May.All those people of courage and conscience are welcome on board this journey. The Honest Support us, The Heroic Join us, the Cowards always show ignorance to us and the Corrupt oppose us, it's our past practical experience. So, we already experienced on categories of people who can join and support us. Truth is supreme, whoever says, so, shall be exalted.

      Message 6 of 9 , May 6, 2013
The following memorandum is submiitted to the President requesting him to bring back the
      mortal remains of bahadur Shah.

      Date: 4 May 2013
      Memorandum

      His Excellency
      Shri Pranab Mukherjee
      President of India

Sub. : Request to bring back the mortal remains of Bahadur Shah Zafar.

      Most Respected Sir

The Socialist Party would like to request you to direct the Indian government to bring back
the mortal remains of Bahadur Shah Zafar from Rangoon (presently Yangon), Myanmar, to Delhi.
The Socialist Party takes inspiration from the thoughts of Dr. Rammanohar Lohia. Dr. Lohia had
suggested that in case a leader passes away in a foreign country, her/his last rites should be
performed there itself. The Socialist Party accepts this view of Dr. Lohia that would lead to
strengthen the bonds of world brotherhood. But the case of Zafar was all together different.
He was arrested by the imperialist rulers, tried and brought to Rangoon in captivity in 1857.
He passed away there on 7 November 1862, at the age of 87, longing for two yards of mother
land for his burial. Zafar, a poet of his own style, expressed his pains of exile in his
famous couplet: kitnaa hai badnaseeb Zafar dafn ke liye, do gaz zamin bhi na mili kuu-e-yaar
      mein.
As you know, it is a long pending demand made by several citizens of India time to time. The
first such request was made by the Bahadur Shah Zafar Memorial Society in 1949. However, the
government has not conceded the demand though it knows very well that Zafar had expressed the
desire to be buried in India after his death.
One can understand that the colonial rulers kept Zafar, the symbol of revolt and Hindu-Muslim
unity, in captivity and then buried him in exile as a non-entity. But it remains unexplained
why the rulers of free India are not ready, even symbolically, to undo the insult and
injustice meted out to Zafar by at least bringing back his remains to India and put him to
rest at the place of his choice Dargah Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki at Mehrauli, where an empty
      grave awaits his remains.
Sir, the demand to bring back the remains of Bahadur Shah Zafar to India is not merely an
emotional issue for the Socialist Party. Zafar was the leader of our First War of Independence
against the colonial powers and a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity. Therefore, it should be the
duty of the Indian government to bring back his remains. Further, a grand memorial should be
constructed in the memory of the martyrs of 1857 for the benefit of present and future
      generations..
We would like to draw your kind attention towards the tribute paid to Zafar by Netaji Subhash
Chandra Bose, addressing a ceremonial parade of INA at his tomb at Yangon. Netaji ended his
speech quoting famous couplet of Zafar: Ghazion mein bu rahegi jab talak iman ki/ Takht-e-
London tak chalegi tegh Hindostan ki! (As long as there is faith in the heart of the freedom
fighters/ The sword of India will pierce through the throne of London). Netaji declared on
that occasion, This parade is the first occasion when Indias new revolutionary army is
paying homage to the spirit of the supreme commander of Indias first revolutionary army.
Sir, we make a sincere appeal to you to kindly take personal interest in this matter of great
importance and convince the government to concede to the demand at the earliest.
      With best regards

      Dr. Prem Singh

        Press Release

Socialist Party condemns Kerala governments anti-democratic action.

The Biennial National Convention of the Socialist Party, held at Trivandrum, Kerala, on 17-18
May 2013 was inaugurated by Justice Rajindar Sachar and presided over by Bhai Vaidya, national
president of the party and former Home Minister of Maharashtra. The Kerala Socialist Party
booked rooms, including 5 rooms in the government guest house for senior persons, well in
advance to accommodate senior members and the delegates from 20 states. The Kerala government
however went ahead to cancel all bookings right on the eve of the convention.
The only reply to the queries of the organisers of the convention was, Rahul Ji is coming.
They outright refused to accommodate even Justice Sachar who was to reach in the late evening
of 16 May. Further, behaving in the most anti-democratic manner, the government officials
threatened to forcibly vacate the room occupied by Bhai Vaidya who had reached Trivandrum one
day earlier to head the national executive meeting of the party. They were restrained in
carrying out their threat only due to the presence of the press at the guest house.
The hosts of the convention faced enormous difficulties in making arrangements for the stay of
the delegates due to the last minute cancellations. Pannalal Surana, president, Parliamentary
Board of the party, and several senior office bearers were compelled to stay in dormitories.
Since it does not believe in cheap publicity, the Socialist Party did not make an issue out of
it on the spot. However, the party, in the larger interest of the democratic polity, condemns
this anti-democratic action and callous attitude of the Kerala government.
Justice Rajindar Sachar has written a strong letter to the Chief Minister of Kerala terming
the act as a serious threat to our democratic Republic. The letter is attached.
