- I just received the following notice of Ed Little's death from his
daughter Marcia Little. I am sure that all the members of the
plato-parmenides and aristotle-met groups will share my sense of loss.
Ed was one of the first participants in the "slow readings" of the Free
Lance Academy. He joined in our discussion of Plato in 1994, shortly
after our discussions became available on the internet, and the
plato-parmenides list was created in response to Ed's request, as was
the original aristotle-metaphysics list. For many years he was the main
discussion leader on both of these lists.
Ed Little is one of the people who really understood the value of this
form of computer-mediated communication for serious intellectual
conversation, and he enthusiastically supported it, not only by
participation but he even delivered scholarly lectures on this subject.
Ed's contributions to the discussions here were always a wonderful
combination of scholarly erudition, wit and ever-generous and gentle
response to the comments of others.
His presence will truly be missed.

My father, Edward Little, passed away Wednesday evening due to heart
failure, at his home in Boseman, Montana. He was 86 years old. An
account of his life will appear in the Claremont Courier either Saturday
or Wednesday. It can be viewed at www.claremont-courier.com (don't
forget that hashmark). There will likely be a memorial service for him
at Harvey Mudd College about October 21st or so.
My mother's address is
Nancy Little

Father will be missed by so many. His last day he was on the computer,
probably working on philosophy. He beat my mother at cribbage before
retiring for the evening. A full life, with scholorship, skiing, kids,
friend, and rum. Thank you for being pat of his life!
Sincerely, Marcia "Missy" Little
