      Hi All,

My name is Ian McMaster, I'm a mature postgrad. final year student studying for B.Arch and MA specialising in Urban Design. My area of interest is the concept of Eco-Cyborg Cities.

Is there anyone on the list with the same interest. I am studing at the Hull School of Architecture in the UK. Hull is an international port on the east coast. Last year my project was to regentrify the waterfront of Hull complete with an enlarged harbour basin for the marina.

This year I am inerested in developing this and possibly to enlarge the area into a Cyborg Village. I have searched the net extensivly for Cyborg city proposals, concepts, stratergies etc., with very little success. Could anyone help or assist me.

      Thank you.

Hi. Welcome to the list. I am one of the moderators, and former staff member at Arcosanti (I was the electrical engineer). I have been involved with Soleri's work for the past - yikes - 28 years. There are a number of people on this list who are Arcosanti alumni and others who are interested in arcology.

If you haven't, check out arcosanti.org for good information about arcology. I and others on the list will be glad to discuss any areas of interest.

One thing that might be helpful to you -- a former Arcosanti workshopper who is now an architect in the NYC area, has had a design and proposal for re-doing one of the waterfronts in New York using a creative approach inspired by arcology. I will forward your mail to him.

Enjoy the list and send suggestions for making it better.

This sounds interesting, though it is unclear to me what you mean by
"cyborg city"... I hope you will describe your ideas thouroughly.

I have my own interest in cybernetics, see my website. =)
