- Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heartMessage 1 of 1 , Nov 22, 2001View SourceProverbs 6:16-19 These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.Psalm 118:6-13 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? The LORD is for me among those who help me; Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me. It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in princes. All nations surrounded me, But in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. They surrounded me, Yes, they surrounded me; But in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. They surrounded me like bees; They were quenched like a fire of thorns; For in the name of the LORD I will destroy them. You pushed me violently, that I might fall, But the LORD helped me.Happy Thanksgiving!Contents at a Glance >>>>>+ Joseph+ New Free Online Book @ Zeitun-eg.org: Our Lord's Mother Visits Egypt in 1968+ Prayer Answered by Crosses by John Newton+ Tele-evangelization (e-vangelization): Pope uses the Internet+ The Popes' Wednesday's Audiences (21 Nov 01)Joseph >>>>>Genesis 39:2 The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man. Genesis 39:23 because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made it prosper. [Comment: These two verses appear in a chapter (39) that also describes parts of Joseph's suffering and trials. The Lord was with Joseph, so how does it come that Joseph was subject to all this trouble: betrayal, false accusation and prison? Why didn't God prevent all this trouble from happening? Let's see below; the end of a thing is better than its beginning. Nothing surpasses God's infinite love and wisdom.]Genesis 39:17-20 Then she spoke to him with words like these, saying, "The Hebrew servant whom you brought to us came in to me to mock me; so it happened, as I lifted my voice and cried out, that he left his garment with me and fled outside." So it was, when his master heard the words which his wife spoke to him, saying, "Your servant did to me after this manner," that his anger was aroused. Then Joseph's master took him and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were confined. And he was there in the prison. [Comment: The ten commandments (You shall not commit adultery) weren't available at the time of Joseph yet he had the fear of God in his heart. Joseph was an unmarried foreigner; who would believe him as he declared his innocence and reject the accusations of this woman, especially given the "evidence" (the garment). We don't however know anything else about this woman; she is not now remembered except by the evil she did (which actually helped promoting Joseph), even though during her earthly life she probably lived as a "respected" woman, the wife of a dignitary, but where is she now?]Genesis 40:23; 41:1 Yet the chief butler did not remember Joseph, but forgot him. Then it came to pass, at the end of two full years... [Comment: but God remembered; He never forgets. Yes, it came to pass. God had another greater plan to promote Joseph and clear his reputation, not just to release him from prison. Notice how Joseph didn't loose faith in God while in the midst of trial in prison. He positively waited for the Lord to deliver him, even though he didn't know how this would happen.]Genesis 41:39-43 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Inasmuch as God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and wise as you. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you." And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt." Then Pharaoh took his signet ring off his hand and put it on Joseph's hand; and he clothed him in garments of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. And he had him ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried out before him, "Bow the knee!" So he set him over all the land of Egypt.Genesis 42:21, 22 Then they said to one another, "We are truly guilty concerning our brother, for we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear; therefore this distress has come upon us." And Reuben answered them, saying, "Did I not speak to you, saying, "Do not sin against the boy'; and you would not listen? Therefore behold, his blood is now required of us."Genesis 50:16-20 So they sent messengers to Joseph, saying, "Before your father died he commanded, saying, "Thus you shall say to Joseph: "I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you."' Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father." And Joseph wept when they spoke to him. Then his brothers also went and fell down before his face, and they said, "Behold, we are your servants." Joseph said to them, "Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive." She would visit at Zeitun Church (small Coptic Orthodox Church of our Lord named St. Mary Church in honor of the Virgin) two or three times per week and would stay from a few moments on some evenings to eight hours on other evenings."In May of 1973 His Holiness Shenouda, III, was invited to Rome by His Holiness, Pope Paul, VI. This was the first meeting of the two bishops, the Bishop of Rome and the Bishop of Alexandria, that had taken place in 1600 years. They celebrated the anniversary of St. Athanasius of the church, the 20th Pope of the See of Alexandria. During this visit Pope Shenouda, III, told Pope Paul, VI, about the visit of the Holy Virgin Mary at Zeitun in 1968 and 1969." (P.26)
Prayer Answered by Crosses by John Newton >>>>>
I asked the Lord that I might grow,
In faith, and love, and every grace;
Might more of his salvation know,
And seek more earnestly his face.[Twas he who taught me thus to pray,
And he, I trust, has answered prayer;
But it has been in such a way
As almost drove me to despair.]I hoped that in some favoured hour
At once he'd answer my request
And, by his love's constraining power,
Subdue my sins, and give me rest.Instead of this, he made me feel
The hidden evils of my heart,
And let the angry powers of hell
Assault my soul in every part.Yea, more with his own hand he seemed
Intent to aggravate my woe;
Crossed all the fair designs I schemed
Blasted my gourds, and laid me low."Lord, why is this!" I trembling cried;
"Wilt thou pursue thy worm to death?"
"Tis in this way,"the Lord replied,
"I answer prayer for grace and faith."These inward trials I employ,
From self and pride to set thee free;
And break thy schemes of earthly joy,
That thou mayst seek thy all in me."Related Link:John Newton (1725-1807), pastor, theologian, and author of the well-known hymn, "Amazing Grace"

19-Nov-2001 -- Vatican Information ServicePOPE TO TRANSMIT EXHORTATION "ECCLESIA IN OCEANIA" VIA INTERNETVATICAN CITY, NOV 19, 2001 (VIS) - Pope John Paul II, during a brief ceremony in the Clementine Hall on November 22, will sign and transmit via Internet the Post-synodal Apostolic Exhortation "Ecclesia in Oceania." This papal document is a result of the synod for Oceania which took place in the Vatican from November 22 to December 12, 1998.Joining the Holy Father in this ceremony will be the members of the Post-synodal Council for Oceania, the members of the executive committee of the Federation of Catholic Bishops Conferences of Oceania (FCBCO), Oceania prelates present in Rome, the heads of dicasteries who were members of the synod as well as priests, religious and lay people from this continent.After he signs the document, the Pope will send the text in English and French to all the dioceses of Oceania via Internet. According to the communique that today announced the publication of the exhortation, "given the geographic dispersion and extension of this continent, electronic communications played an important role during the entire synodal process, right from the start. When the Holy Father electronically transmits this document - a first in the history of the Church - he will be underlining this aspect in a noteworthy fashion."Following the ceremony, the post-synodal council will hold its fifth meeting.Related Links:Flash Cards Aim to Keep Children Catholic

H.H. Pope John Paul II Wednesday's Audience (21 Nov 2001)
Christians Urged to Begin Day with Certainty of God's Merciful LoveExodus 15:13 You in Your mercy have led forth the people whom You have redeemed; You have guided them in Your strength to Your holy habitation.John Paul II invited Christians to begin their day with a "quiver of praise" in the certainty of being "enveloped by the merciful gaze of God." The Holy Father made this proposal during the weekly general audience, when he reflected on the hymn the people of Israel raised to God after they were delivered from Pharaoh's army. Thus John Paul II continued his yearlong series of meditations on the Psalms and canticles of the Old Testament which became part of the Christians' Liturgy of the Hours.
