Re: [aprsisce] APRSIS/32 TNC Access under WINE
- <oops, forgot to hit "send" on this...>
Bingo! I needed to add the following two lines to the system.reg file,
which is part of the Wine equivalent of the Windows Registry: (credit
also goes to Wine-Wiki, http://wiki.jswindle.com/index.php/Wine_Registry)
I had already set up the serial device in the dosdevices directory with:
ln -s /dev/ttyS4 com1 (use whatever your serial device file is)
And now when I configure the serial port, com1 shows up as the choice,
and Yea! it works. My TNC, by the way, is an MFJ 1278T. No special
settings, at least, none that were different from how it was set up to
work with Xastir.
Thanks for the critical clue about the enumeration entry. That got me
on the right path.
I don't know if anyone is running APRSIS32 with serial port TNCs under
WINE, I'll let them jump in with answers on that.
APRSIS32 attempts to access the enumeration of serial ports from the
Windows Registry to populate the dropdown of choices. If you're into
WINE internals, here's the code. Otherwise, if your linux has a way of
turning a serial port into a TCP/IP listening port, you could configure
that way and tell APRSIS32 to use a TCP/IP port to 127.0.0.1...We know
the TCP stuff works under WINE.
