      Hi,

I can not get my APRSIS setup to transmit.

Com ports are correct and KPC3 is enabled (KISS Mode)

UI View transmits fine and so does Hyperterminal on the same com port settings.

What am I missing here?  Thanks for your help.

      Regards,

Lynn, Thanks for the reply. All of the parameters are set correctly. Still no transmit. The top left it says KPC3-OK and a time stamp. Regards, Anthony

Anthony, There may be other errors, but the immediate one I see is what appears to be your command to put the KPC-3 into KISS mode. If you are using KISS ON ,

              Anthony,

There may be other errors, but the immediate one I see is what appears to be your command to put the KPC-3 into KISS mode. If you are using "KISS ON", I think it should be "INT KISS" (or "INTERFACE KISS").

I would suggest using KISS and not SimplyKISS for any device that has a mode other than KISS.

The reason being if your device drops out of KISS, APRSIS32 will stop hearing packets, after a period of time set by Quiet time under general APRSIS32 will instigate a restart. It will run the close commands and then the open commands, to hopefully get things going again. Simply KISS will just wait for you to sort things out manually.

You need to set quiet time to an appropriate time to suit traffic conditions in you area. AS in a low traffic area if the time is too short the TNC will be reset, even though all is OK.

                  Just my thoughts

Is the KPC3 already in KISS mode when you start APRSIS32?

If it is already in KISS mode, then the KPC3 won't respond to the commands.

That is what SimpleKISS is for.

I'll take any suggestions at this point. I have tried both KISS and Simple KISS and neither have worked.  I suspect it must be the commands to initiate the TNC are hosed up in the XML file but I have not made that determination yet. This is most definitely a setting not proper in APRSIS because the the TNC port combination works with UIView(my current software which I am transitioning from) and Hyperterminal.

                    What are your <OpenCMD> commands?

If you post them, maybe there is a TWEAK or 2 for them.

Unfortunately I cannot get at my KPC3 file right now to post mine.

Is the KPC3 already in KISS mode when you start APRSIS32?
If it is already in KISS mode, then the KPC3 won't respond to the commands.
That is what SimpleKISS is for.

                      What are your <OpenCMD> commands?
If you post them, maybe there is a TWEAK or 2 for them.

Unfortunately I cannot get at my KPC3 file right now to post mine.

                      Hi,

I can not get my APRSIS setup to transmit.

Com ports are correct and KPC3 is enabled (KISS Mode)

UI View transmits fine and so does Hyperterminal on the same com port settings.

What am I missing here?  Thanks for your help.

I was able to get it going. The trick was to change the KISS ON to INTFACE KISS. Thanks Bob! Regards, Anthony (N2KI)

The top left it says KPC3-OK and a time stamp.

                          Hi,

I can not get my APRSIS setup to transmit.

Com ports are correct and KPC3 is enabled (KISS Mode)

UI View transmits fine and so does Hyperterminal on the same com port settings.

What am I missing here?  Thanks for your help.

I experimented with the delay times of the {command!response!delay} format and came up with these for my KPC3.  They may be a little longer than necessary, but a little delay in initialization is okay when it assures your TNC is ready.
NOTE: if the "response" arrives before the timer, it moves on, so the delays aren't always the full length.  Summing up the delays is 9 seconds, plus some <zeros>

Thanks for the reply.  All of the parameters are set correctly.  Still no transmit.

The top left it says KPC3-OK and a time stamp.

                              Hi,

I can not get my APRSIS setup to transmit.

Com ports are correct and KPC3 is enabled (KISS Mode)

UI View transmits fine and so does Hyperterminal on the same com port settings.

What am I missing here?  Thanks for your help.
