      Lynn,

I believe I understand what you are talking about.  For your reference, below is the link to what I purchased.  But you have me thinking, what program is there that I can use one GPS for two different programs on the same computer?  I presume that the GPS creates it's own port once it is plugged into the USB port.

I've never heard of a "USB splitter" cable unless it was to share power.  USB is a master/slave serial bus and there can only be one "master" (the PC side) which talks to one "slave" (the attached device) at a time.  The way to share a GPS is to have the GPS create a virtual COM port and then use a virtual serial port program to split that out to multiple COMn ports, one per GPS-using program.

The following is used with a USB mini 7 port hub.

I am prepping for the MS bike tour this weekend.  I purchased a USB extension cable with a splitter so I could use the GPS puck with both APRS and GRL3 doppler software.  APRS had not problem finding the GPS on the primary USB plug.  APRS could not find the 2nd USB plug when I tried it on the “splitter side”.  The drivers for the USB mini 7 port hub are up to date.

Does any on have an idea why the 2nd or splitter side of the USB is not being seen by APRS?
