And I would request that this personal discussion cease.  You are correct that APRSISCE/32 deserves better, and you are currently >50% of the problem.

The group is open for any civil discussion and please just poke delete if a particular post disturbs you.  Otherwise, you are just trolling for more to the detriment of all.

PS.  I'm not saying that James wasn't a bit out of line, but the ongoing discussion has definitely crossed well over the acceptability line.

'Looks like no one reads the instructions' is a sentence patently poorly constructed. I think also I would have placed a comma after the word 'since' in that particular usage.

I will leave the phrase 'we just went around this bush a couple of times' to speak for itself.

We are all endeavoring to learn James, and, as we do not all occupy the same rarefied level of understanding you so obviously inhabit, please do give us a chance! There is really no need to be quite so abrasive.

If one feels a particular question to the group is trivial, then the answer is quite simple - one does not need to respond.

APRSISCE is a super program and deserves better.

As a reader, I find the attitude here sometimes quite outrageous, bullying, and most unnecessary.

My Asperger's Syndrome kicks in some days... When you write explicit
instructions, then explain the explicit instructions, and then have

Lynn, just a line on the configure page next to the APRS passcode

No hot link, no smtp access, no automatically generated passcode, just
a reminder right there where the passcode is needed of who to contact.

It's pretty obvious due to the number of people sending requests here
that the current process isn't being understood.

Just a thought, but if you’ve got folks joining the group to ask for a passcode, you could mention the email address (or provide a link back to the wiki’s “passcode” page) on the Yahoo Group’s main page where they have to click to join.

Do you mention the passcode in the automated emails sent out when Group membership is approved?  If not, that could be another spot.

Note the "on a request basis".  Nope, I can't make it part of the application, nor would I want to.  There are several of us that field the aprsisce-owner e-mails and grand passcodes.   To do it any other way would put a single point of failure in the passcode granting process.

I just checked and the yahoo file sent on joining is incorrect and asks people to request a passcode on the main group. I had not spotted that before Will change it now.

Wouldn't hurt to try the old fashion <b> </b> HTML style.  Even if it doesn't actually come out bold, it will catch their attention.  Many may even understand the intent.

DOWNSIDE -> if the HTML is rejected, it may not send anything.

a test of this would definitely be needed before implementation.
