RE: [aprsisce] another question.
- Hi Lynn,
I have set APRSisce and the d710 to the same ssid.
I will do some more experimenting and see what happens.
At the moment I have turned off the APRSiSCE beacon.

I really haven't figured out which should beacon. I just packed up Steve's
loaner D710 to return tomorrow, but the whole time it was sitting here, I
let both of them beacon. Of course, I had APRSIS32 set up as a fixed
station (see previous e-mail), so it didn't send out very much.
The issue I still have with running the D710 in APRS mode is that the first
time APRSISCE/32 sends a beacon, all further beacons from the D710 adopt the
APRSISCE/32 callsign. When the radio resets or changes mode, it reverts to
the D710 configured callsign.
For messaging and visibility purposes, I believe it is important to see both
stations. But, since APRSISCE/32 adheres to the APRS spec of displaying
(but not acking) messages for any -SSID, you can still answer D710-directed
messages directly from APRSISCE/32. However, my client will only announce
messages directed to it's own SSID.
I'm still working out what should be done there. As soon as I get back from
vacation, I'll be finalizing the OT2m installation in my car so that
APRSISCE on my phone will Bluetooth to the TNC there. So I'll be facing the
same conundrum with that installation that you're facing with the D710.
It's two stations, shouldn't it be two beacons? UI-View never had the issue
because I believe APRSISCE/32 is the first software to actually use the D710
TNC in APRS mode. The other's put it in PACKET or KISS mode which turned
off all internal smarts.
