I'm having trouble getting my TS-2000 to comunicate with aprsisce.  Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong?  I'm trying KISS, seems to be OK until it hits the restart command on opencmd...

That "error" may be normal.  If you hook up a terminal emulator, can you see packets being received by the TS-2000?  If not, then you need to get it decoding before you'll have any joy with APRSISCE/32.  If you CAN see packets being decoded, then watch it for a while to determine the approximate rate at which they are received.  Knowing that, then fire up APRSISCE/32 and watch your trace log for at least twice that long and you should see packets coming through.  Make sure the <YourPortName> log is enabled, or the packets may not be shown.

PS.  The "error" indicates that the final RESTART command is not expecting an echo of the command which APRSISCE/32 receives after having switched internally to KISS mode which then complains about the "missing leading <C0>", a non-fatal issue which should go away when the TS-2000 decodes a real packet and sends it to APRSISCE/32 in a KISS wrapper.

          WOW, quick reply – Thanks.

I started hyperterminal and apparently the TS-2000 is not decoding any packets – nothing seen and lots of audible “traffic”.  I shut down aprsis before starting hyperterminal, do I need to re-initialize the TS-2000 with any KISS setup commands from hyperterminal?

          TS-2000 menus:

            WOW, quick reply – Thanks.

I started hyperterminal and apparently the TS-2000 is not decoding any packets – nothing seen and lots of audible “traffic”.  I shut down aprsis before starting hyperterminal, do I need to re-initialize the TS-2000 with any KISS setup commands from hyperterminal?

            TS-2000 menus:

            46 Main/Sub band: Built in TNC=Sub

            47 Data transfer rate=Built in TNC=1200

            48 DCD sense=TNC Band

            50A Packet Filter Bandwidth=Off

Input and output level set =4

            55 Packet Operation=On

            56 Com Connector Parm=57600

That "error" may be normal.  If you hook up a terminal emulator, can you see packets being received by the TS-2000?  If not, then you need to get it decoding before you'll have any joy with APRSISCE/32.  If you CAN see packets being decoded, then watch it for a while to determine the approximate rate at which they are received.  Knowing that, then fire up APRSISCE/32 and watch your trace log for at least twice that long and you should see packets coming through.  Make sure the <YourPortName> log is enabled, or the packets may not be shown.

Lynn (D) - KJ4ERJ - Author of APRSISCE for Windows Mobile and Win32

Am using a TS-2000, but don t use KISS! Use the TM-D700 setup for APRSIS32, as the TS-2000 has the same built in TNC modem. 9600 N 8 1 for the comm port works

I know nothing about the TS-2000, so I really can't help you with the configuration menus, but I do know that you need to be decoding stuff before APRSISCE/32 will work.

Even if the TS-2000 was in KISS mode, you'd see non-printable headers, but fully readable payloads from decoded packets, so I suggest working towards that with a terminal emulator and once you see packets in SOME form coming through, close the terminal emulator and fire up APRSISCE/32 and you should be good to go.

PS.  On the timing, you just got lucky!  I was doing one of my vacation-style e-mail passes just after your message came in.

On purpose or by accident? Remember, you should only edit the
configuration file when APRSISCE/32 is closed or you'll lose your
changes. Also, if you're talking WinMo, I have issues with backups on
my sync machine touching an old version of the file and then synching it
as "new" over to my phone causing unexpected reversions.

And for now, the development and general release are the SAME version
until I get back home and get into development again.

Am using a TS-2000, but don't use KISS!
Use the TM-D700 setup for APRSIS32, as the TS-2000 has the same built in TNC modem.
9600 N 8 1 for the comm port works best..

I've been waiting for Lynn to get a terminal mode added into
APRSISCE/32 so I could do some debugging of these port open/close
commands. It's a pain to try and work through it and attempt to see
what APRSISCE/32 is doing via the log files.

My TS-2000 requires a manual power cycle to get into KISS mode even
though the manual says to issue the RESTART command.

I go into Teraterm and issue the appropriate KISS ON and RESTART
commands, power cycle, and then start up APRSISCE/32, but that's a
                      less than desirable routine.

I'll have to try the TM-D700 startup to see what that does.

It's kind of ironic that I want to run APRS mode in the mobile where
Lynn is always squawking about running in KISS mode, and at home where
I want to run KISS mode, I'm going to have to run APRS mode...
