- For a basic tracker I would:
Disable Map Fetching - This would be the bulk of the transfer unless the
maps are already resident on the device
Set the Range to 0 - This will effectively eliminate all incoming
APRS-IS traffic to only your Buddies (stations you're following) and
messages directed to you.
APRS-IS packets are plain ASCII data. As such, they are small, much
smaller than a single MP3 file or audio stream. A single video stream
for 5 minutes would probably equal a week's worth of 100 mile radius
APRS-IS data (guessing here, but hopefully you get the idea).
