      Thanks for all the suggestions.  I think the Netbook type of device is what would be a better situation if one wants something like a keyboard for messaging and USB ports for plugging in a radio like a Kenwood D7A(g) (for receive only) or a Kenwood D72A for full access use of APRSIS32 with Rf mode operations.

      Any Palmtops that can be interfaced for RF operations say when small size is desired
      and keyboard messaging is not needed?  Major issue would be getting a USB/serial link to the TNC/radio?

      I use a little Acer Aspire One netbook sometimes. But 90% of the time I use my HTC Mogul. I have a custom ROM running Win CE 6.5. And no phone service. But thats going to change. May go with the HTC HD2. It all depends on the cheapest phone service with what I go with.
