Group Description

AOR Music discussion group. We routinely discuss known and lesser-known artists in the styles of Rick Springfield, Journey, Styx, Dare, Valentine, Survivor, etc. Discussion can also reach to Southern Rock, 80's Hard Rock/Glam/Metal, etc.

Commentary for the most part will not favor "bands of the 90's" though. CD-

Trading is a constant within this group of people, however, spamming the list with solicitations with no intention to participate in active discussion will not be tolerated and will be grounds for immediate banning [yeah, this means that it would be a good idea to participate onlist before you simply post the URL to your tradelist, etc.]. Many hard to find or out of print discs have been traded with people thru this list. Music news regarding "The greatest music ever" is also posted quite regularly.

If the music could be in any way construed as resembling AOR [Album- or Adult-oriented Rock], then we will openly discuss it here, until such a time as members of the list deem that the music in fact isn't in any way, shape, or form AOR. This represents an evolution of sorts from a "strictly 100%" AOR list to a more "open-minded" list, where the idea is to shun grunge, alternative, [classic] country, R&B, etc, but to allow the more diverse flavors of AOR/Melodic Metal/Rock/FM Rock/etc. Bands like Metallica are still a bit "out of bounds", but with this new, wide open spec, groups like Royal Hunt may now be "fodder" for discussion.

Moving from a strict AOR to a more "it appeals to me" attitude while maintaining rock with a melody & a harmony as a guideline, we may see more open discussion on topics that before may have been construed as too far out of bounds.
