German Neo-nazis are the student movement of today
- Former German neo-Nazi leader speaks out
This has appeared on the Beeb: its a chilling account from a member of Germany's far right describing an insiders' view of the ideology and the 'scene'. He describes the movement as intrinsically militarist and anti-Semitic ('synagogues would burn once again'). He says there is a large, under-reported degree of support for the movement, 'up to 60% in the smaller towns like Brandenburg'.
His opinion is contrary to that of mainstream accounts of the popularity of the far right in Germany, which represents it as marginal at best. This guy no doubt has an inflated opinion of his own and his ex-movement's importance (he was a member, he says, for 11 years). I wonder where the reality lies (hopefully on the side of the mainstream accounts).
