      Week 2, 2nd week of April

      How to breathe with each verse of Calendar of the Soul?

      ·    The Stage lights gives one way, often forward on the prologue- as it is through the text - and reverse order in the epilogue.

      ·    The forms, another: are there one or many forms?

      ·     The colours of the veils, yet another;

      ·    The sounding breath (of the eurythmic movement) sounds of vowels or consonants or both, this is still another variation of the breathing of the weekly verse. A few sound in the prologue and epilogue, and eurythmic sounds done while the text is recited. Some times the recitation is done before and the whole piece is moved in silence.

      There are six eurythmists on the stage,

      Prologue: or how to breathe before the verse:

      Colour of eurythmists:

      Surrounding them is a colour on their “veil”; they move their feelings according to that colour;

      1, 2 and 3: violet,

      4, 5 and 6: yellow.

      Sound sequence:

      They move in the mood of different sounds of the alphabet, in a sequence:

      1: Ei / I / U

      2: I / Ei / U,

      3: U / Ei / I.

      4, 5 and 6: I / U / O / I.

      *The vowel sounds are as in the original German so in English: Ei is [y as in by], I is [ee] O is [Oh] and U is [oo].

      Movement sequence:

      4, 5 and 6 first do I / U / O /I standing then move the form, 1, 2 and 3 start the form while 4, 5 and 6 are standing, they all arrive at the same time.

      Colour of stage lights:

      Surrounding them is a colour from the stage lights; they move their feelings according to that colour;

      First part: bLUE, foot lights: white.

      Second part: red, foot lights: green

      Third part: RED, foot lights: red,

      Fourth part: BLUE, foot lights: green.

      Text,

      Then during the recitation

      STAGE LIGHTS: bLUE, foot lights: white’

      Ins Äußre des Sinnesalls

      Verliert Gedankenmacht ihr Eigensein

      STAGE LIGHTS: red, foot lights: green

      Es finden Geisteswelten
      Den Menschensprossen wieder,
      Der Seinen Keim in ihnen,
      STAGE LIGHTS: RED, foot lights: red,

      Doch seine Seelenfrucht
      STAGE LIGHTS: BLUE, foot lights: green.

      In sich muss finden.

      1, 2 and 3 start as 4, 5 and 6 stand, as above.

      1, 2 and 3 do the consonants of the text on the form.

      4, 5 and 6 do the vowels of the text while standing and while moving their form.

      Epilogue:

      Lighting and sounds as prologue, usually in reverse order.

      They move this week form once more.

      Translation John Salter 3/2002

      Within the senses' outer realm

      The power of thought loses its own existence;

      Realms of spirit once more

      Discover their human offspring

      Who must find in them

      His seed, yet in himself

      The harvest of the soul.
