      Week 50, 2nd week of March:

      How to breathe with each verse of Calendar of the Soul?

      ·    The Stage lights gives one way, often forward on the prologue- as it is through the text - and reverse order in the epilogue.

      ·    The forms, another: are there one or many forms?

      ·     The colours of the veils, yet another;

      ·    The sounding breath (of the eurythmic movement) sounds of vowels or consonants or both, this is still another variation of the breathing of the weekly verse. A few sound in the prologue and epilogue, and eurythmic sounds done while the text is recited. Some times the recitation is done before and the whole piece is moved in silence.

      There are four eurythmists on the stage,

      Prologue: or how to breathe before the verse:

      Colour of stage lights:

      §         Surrounding them is a colour from the stage lights; they move their feelings according to that colour;

      First part: yellow, foot lights green.

      Second part: yellow, foot lights green and red

      §         Alternative lighting.

      First part: RED, foot lights: white,

      Second part: BLUE, foot lights: white.

      Note: Both lightings are from Rudolf Steiner.

      Colour of eurythmists:

      Surrounding them is a colour on their “veil”; they move their feelings according to that colour;

      1: green,

      2 and 4: orange,

      3: violet.

      Sound sequence:

      They move in the mood of different sounds of the alphabet, in a sequence:

      1:I modulating to O

      2: O modulating to A,

      3: A modulating to E,

      4: E modulating to I.

      *The vowel sounds are as in the original German so in English: A is [Ah], E is [Eh], I is [ee] O is [Oh] and U is [oo].

      Text:

      Then during the recitation

      STAGE LIGHTS: GREN, foot lights white.

      Alternative lighting:  RED, foot lights: white,

      Es spricht zum Menschen-Ich,
      Sich machtvoll offenbarend
      Und seines Wesens Kräfte lösend,
      Des Weltendaseins Werdelust:

      STAGE LIGHTS: yellow, foot lights green and red

      Alternative lighting.: BLUE, foot lights: white.

      In dich mein Leben tragend
      Aus seinem Zauberbanne,
      Erreiche ich mein wahres Ziel.

      They all do the previous form.

      Other way 1 to do the form there during the first lighting and back during the second lighting.

      Epilogue:

      Lighting reverse order from prologue.

      First part: yellow, foot lights green and red,

      Alternative lighting.: RED, foot lights: white,

      Second part: yellow, foot lights green.

      Alternative lighting.: RED, foot lights: white,

      They move this same form in the mood of different sounds of the alphabet, in the prologue sequence, or in the reverse sequence.

      John Salter’s translation:

      There speaks to the human I,

      With mighty revelation

      Freeing its inmost powers,

      The world's joyful urge to become:

      To thee my life transporting out of its deep enchantment

      Do I reach my true purpose.
