      THE "SOUL-CALENDAR"

Here is the Soul-Calendar verse for this week in German and in English,
with the Moon's position in the stars for each night and some of the birth &
death days of famous persons (saints, etc.) which Steiner published with the
Seelencalendar in 1912 (Im translating them to restore the Calendar to its
intended use with its spiritual-historical, solar and lunar connections).

In addition to a mantram for each week of the year, in the original were
12 drawings of the zodiac to be meditated on, to sense the spiritual working
of the solar forces in the cosmos in the daytime monthly. The Moon's position
in the constellations each night was to sense the lunar forces each evening.
The Sun, according to the Doctor, is under the influence of Aquarius from
Feb. 9th to Mar.8th. (Unfortunately we cannot send the images of the
constellations through this medium yet.) The Moon positions are listed daily.

      *******47th Week after Easter.
Es will erstehet aus dem Weltenschoss
      Die Sinnenschein erquickend, Werdelust.
      Sie finde meines Denkens Kraft
      Gerstet durch die Gotteskraft
Die krftig mir im Innern leben.

There will arise out of World-Womb
The Senses shine to quicken, Growth-Joy.
It shall find my Thinkings Force
      Prepared through the Gods Forces
That forcefully in my Inner self lives.

For those not familiar with the use of mantrams:

Anthroposophy is a Western path of knowledge which begins with reading of
books and use of the ordinary logical mind; then, an intensification process
can be begun by the use of visual images Steiner gave out called
"Imaginations" and reciting mantras or combinations of words which leads a
step higher to "Inspirations." The 12 signs of the Zodiac, for instance, are
      Imaginations.

The meaning of the words of a mantra as read at first sight is not the
essential thing, but rather the repetitive recitation of them and entering
with deeper soul-forces into the inner experience of what is described.

Also, the mantrams were created in the German language and have their
rhythm from this, so that learning an English version is just a step to
learning to use the real mantram in the original, which is much preferred.
(Chanting "the jewel in the lotus" is very different from "Om mani padme
hum.") Steiner spoke often of the specialness of the German tongue, and how
it had preserved words lost by other Indo-Aryan languages, and said that it
could become what Sanscrit was in old Vedic times: the language in which
spirit-truths are expressed. In translating, I have tried to keep close to
the original so that one can most easily step from the English to the German.

      The 47th week after Easter:

SUN. 2/20 Moon Leo. Voltaire born 1694.
MON. 2/21 Moon Virgo. Spinoza died 1677.
TUES. 2/22 Moon Virgo. Papias (Disciple of the Apostles, died as a
      martyr 116 A.D.) Schopenhauer born 1788.
WED. 2/23 Moon Virgo. Lazarus (the poor man in the Gospel). Lazarus
(who as described in Johns Gospel by Christ was awakened). Mathematician
Gauss died 1855. Eduard von Hartmann born 1842.
THURS. 2/24 Moon Libra Matthias the Apostle, chosen in Judas place).
      Gutenberg died 1468.
FRI. 2/25 Moon Libra. Cellini died 1571.
SAT. 2/26 Moon Scorpius. Jonas (the Prophet).

        THE "CALENDAR OF THE SOUL"
Here’s the "Soul-Calendar" for this 16th week after Easter. The Calendar's
52 meditative mantras enable us to experience the 'astral' or soul events
occurring within us in the course of the year. It's in the original German
        and in English.

        Zu bergen Geistgeschenk im Innern,
        Gebietet strenge mir mein Ahnen,
        Dass reifend Gottesgaben
        In Seelengründen fruchtend
        Der Selbstheit Früchte bringen.

To save the Spirit-Gifts in my Inner self
Bids me strongly my sensing of the future,
        So that those ripening God-gifts
In the Soul’s Ground bearing fruit
        The Selfhood's Fruit will bring.

For those not familiar with the use of mantras:
Anthroposophy intensifies the mind by the use of images called
"Imaginations" which awaken spiritual sight, and mantras which begin
'spiritual hearing' (or "Inspirations"). The meaning of the words of a mantra
at first sight is not the essential thing, but rather reciting it and
entering with deeper soul-forces into its inner experience.
These mantras were also, of course, created in the German language and
have their rhythms in that, so learning an English version is just a step to
using the original. Steiner spoke of how German has preserved words lost by
other languages, and could be for us today what Sanskrit was in olden times:
THE language in which spirit-truths are expressed. In translating therefore,
I’ve tried to keep close to the original, so that anyone can easily go from
        English to German.

        This Week's Verse:
This week refers to the state of having received the 'gifts of the Spirit'
from immersion in It in its manifestation as pure sensation in this
summer-time, and now being moved by one's feeling of what is to come in the
future (ahnend) to take care to rescue them from loss ("bergen"= salvage,
rescue) within, for as what the Spirit has planted in us in these past few
weeks is allowed to ripen, the fruits of one's own self and its endeavors
        will likewise.

Sorry, no Zodiac symbol or week's Moon listings/Saints' days this week.
