Check out the Whitsun celebration at the Edward Hopper Diner on the
      German blog Terra Canaillo

      http://canaillo.blogspot.com/

There you see the descent of the Holy Ghost, distributing tongues of
flame upon every and every denizen of the diner, and upon those
outside on the street: including Rudolf Steiner toward the back,
Marilyn Monroe naked on a tabletop, and even me seated front next to
Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel with enhanced cleavage, Michael
Eggert on the far left in the street, and the great guru, Murat
Tchundyk of Uribistan on the far right.

      Happy 50!

I like the simplicity of the original, with the added image of Steiner, whose aura serves to denote the advent of the Etheric Christ in the very age most in need of it; the 1940's.

            Bradford comments;

All of this after the fact, on the way out, don't let the door hit as you leave, in other words, cracking open the 21st century with the full tango of Ahriman and the PNAC, Project for a New Ahrimanic Century and as well as when that was written and signed the opening of the Matrix Series, coming from a long line of DATES  Time codes, and that in specific was 1998/9, Ahriman created a production value stylized knock out of the long after Ahriman has had his way and had his day with humanity, humanity finally attempts to pull a Bodhisattva, Mr. Anderson against the fall of all of the Angels of humanity in a psychic/electronic world of the absolute densified human double.

Now, with elections constantly hacked and stolen, Bush on his way out, we get a certain sense of fed up and shut up already about this Ahrimanic stooge.  But what goes for the rest of the world also goes for Anthros.  The fact that Anthros have clung onto and failed to wretch on hearing and seeing Cheney and Bush and as well have failed to put together exactly how 9/11  the London bombings and Spain train station bombings came about.... reveals as well the usual crowd of Anthro suckers and uneducated students of spiritual science research.

John Nash, Elizabeth Boggs, Von Newman, Kurt Vonnegut, Mark Twain, Oppenheimer, MLK Jr, JFK, Merton, John Lennon, Sympathy for the Devil, Faust, Goethe and now say such a film as The Golden Compass or Pan's Labyrinth and the countless Intellectual Soul spy thrillers and save the world hallucination thrillers and all aspects of the creative imagination swirl around real events, imaginary worlds and heroic or horrfic deeds of humanity and they all ask the same moral questions and they all gravitate towards a higher spiritual and moral reality that is integrated in the human I AM.  And the people mentioned, well the few, the tiny handful that are mentioned of the dozens, the thousands, the hundreds of millions who haven't ever been introduced to Spiritual Science, but everyone with a moral compass can understand the direction and opportunity that Spiritual Science represents.

Because in any case it is all the same form of catharsis and in terms of Time Codes, here we sit in this 21st century and we have had a front row seat to the Ahrimanic Deceptions running full throttle before us causing immense immoral destructiveness.   Well anticipated, and well documented by dates and times offered as well as insights offered out of Spiritual Science.  And all of humanity and George Orwell himself participated in these observations and events that continue to insult human intelligence and human moral stature.  It is all one powerful force of courage and tragic betrayal and tragic slumber that runs out of the spilt cup and follows a down hill, down the drain path.

Enough?  And logic that humanity has had enough?  Look around you and more importantly let us look inside ourselves and see cowardice and base lies we swill and see if all these silent participants truly live on cognitive and healthy ground.

" In an astoundingly ignorant interview with The Politico's Mike Allen Tuesday, President Bush insinuated that electing a Democrat in November would lead to another attack on America, and revealed that he made the ultimate sacrifice by giving up golf shortly after the start of the Iraq War — the timing of which he lied about. Naturally, Keith ripped into him tonight — with all the anger and passion you've come to expect from a Special Comment — for continuing this despicable fear-mongering, and for failing to understand what true sacrifice is.

Do your part in telling President Bush to "shut the hell up": Digg It!

"Mr. President," he was asked, "you haven't been golfing in recent years. Is that related to Iraq?
"Yes," began perhaps the most startling reply of this nightmarish blight on our lives as Americans — on our history.
"It really is. I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the Commander-in-Chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be as — to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."
            Golf, Sir?
Golf sends the wrong signal to the grieving families of our men and women butchered in Iraq?
Do you think these families, Mr. Bush - their lives blighted forever — care about you playing golf?
Do you think, Sir, they care about you?
You, Mr. Bush, let their sons and daughters be killed.
Sir, to show your solidarity with them - you gave up golf?
Sir, to show your solidarity with them - you didn't give up your pursuit of this insurance-scam, profiteering, morally and financially bankrupting war.
Sir, to show your solidarity with them - you didn't even give up talking about Iraq - a subject about which you have incessantly proved without pause or backwards glance, that you may literally be the least informed person in the world?
Sir, to show your solidarity with them, you didn't give up… your
4,000 dead Americans and your response… was to stop playing golf!
            Golf.
            Not "gulf" - golf.

            Full transcripts below the fold:

Finally tonight, as promised, a Special Comment on two topics a lot of us had foolishly thought, had naively hoped, we would not again have to address… and a third topic nobody thought a president would ever seriously mention in public unless perhaps he'd just been hit in the head with something and was not in full possession of his faculties — how he expressed his "empathy" to the families of the dead in Iraq — by giving up golf.

The President has resorted anew to the sleaziest fear-mongering and mass manipulation of an administration — of a public life — dedicated to realizing the lowest of our expectations.

And he has now applied these poisons to the 2008 presidential election, on behalf of the party at whose center he and Mr. McCain lurk.

Mr. Bush has predicted that the election of a Democratic president could, "eventually lead to another attack on the United States."

This ludicrous, infuriating, holier-than-thou and most importantly bone-headedly wrong statement came yesterday during an interview with Politico-dot-com and on-line users of Yahoo.

The question was phrased as follows: "If we were to pull out of Iraq next year, what's the worst that could happen, what's the doomsday scenario?"

The President replied: "Doomsday scenario, of course, is that extremists throughout the Middle East would be emboldened, which would eventually lead to another attack on the United States.

The biggest issue we face is — it's bigger than Iraq — it's this ideological struggle against cold-blooded killers who will kill people to achieve their political objectives."

Mr. Bush, at long last, has it not dawned on you that the America you have now created, includes `cold-blooded killers who will kill people to achieve their political objectives'?'

They are those in, or formerly in, your employ, who may yet be charged some day with war crimes.

Through your haze of self-congratulation and self-pity, do you still have no earthly clue that this nation has laid waste to Iraq to achieve your political objectives?

`This ideological struggle,' Mr. Bush, is taking place within this country.

It is a struggle between Americans who cherish freedom — ours and everybody else's — and Americans like you, sir, to whom freedom is just a brand name, just like "Patriot Act" is a brand name or "Protect America" is a brand name.

            But wait, there's more.

You also said "Iraq is the place where al Qaeda and other extremists have made their stand — and they will be defeated."

They made no "stand" in Iraq, sir.  You allowed them to assemble there!

As certainly as if that were the plan, the borders were left wide open by your government's farcical post-invasion strategy of `they'll greet us as liberators.'

And as certainly as if that were the plan, the inspiration for another generation of terrorists in another country was provided by your government's farcical post-invasion strategy of letting the societal infra-structure of Iraq dissolve, to be replaced by an American Vice-Royalty enforced by merciless mercenaries who shoot unarmed Iraqis and then evade prosecution in any country, by hiding behind your skirts, sir.

Terrorism inside Iraq is your creation, Mr. Bush!

It was a Yahoo user who brought up the second topic upon whose introduction Mr. Bush should have passed, or punted, or gotten up and left the room claiming he heard Dick Cheney calling him.

"Do you feel," asked an ordinary American, "that you were mis-led on Iraq?"

"I feel like — I felt like, there were weapons of mass destruction. You know, "mislead" is a strong word, it almost connotes some kind of intentional — I don't think so, I think there was a — not only our intelligence community, but intelligence communities all across the world shared the same assessment. And so I was disappointed to see how flawed our intelligence was."

            Flawed.

You, Mr. Bush, and your tragically know-it-all minions, threw out every piece of intelligence that suggested there were no such weapons.

You, Mr. Bush, threw out every person who suggested that the sober, contradictory, reality-based intelligence needed to be listened to, fast.

You, Mr. Bush, are responsible for how "intelligence communities all across the world shared the same assessment."

You and the sycophants you dredged up and put behind the most important steering wheel in the world propagated palpable nonsense and shoved it down the throat of every intelligence community across the world and punished anybody who didn't agree it was really chicken salad.

And you, Mr. Bush, threw under the bus all of the subsequent critics who bravely stepped forward later to point out just how much of a self-fulfilling prophecy you had embraced, and adopted as this country's policy — in lieu of, say, common sense.

The fiasco of pre-war intelligence, sir, is your fiasco.

You should build a great statue of yourself turning a deaf ear to the warnings of realists, while you are shown embracing the three-card monte dealers like Richard Perle and Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney.

That would be a far more fitting tribute to your legacy, Mr. Bush, than this presidential library you are constructing as a giant fable about your presidency, an edifice you might as claim was built from Iraqi Weapons of Mass Destruction because there will be just as many of those inside your presidential library as there were inside Saddam Hussein's Iraq.

Of course if there is one over-riding theme to this president's administration it is the utter, always-failing, inability to know when to quit when it is behind.

And so Mr. Bush answered yet another question about this layered, nuanced, wheels-within-wheels garbage heap that constituted his excuse for war.

"And so you feel that you didn't have all the information you should have or the right spin on that information?"

"No, no," replied the President. "I was told by people, that they had weapons of mass destruction…"

            People?

            What people?

            The insane informant "Curveball?"

The Iraqi snake-oil salesman Ahmed Chalabi?

The American snake-oil salesman Dick Cheney?

"I was told by people that they had weapons of mass destruction, as were members of Congress, who voted for the resolution to get rid of Saddam Hussein. And of course, the political heat gets on and they start to run and try to hide from their votes."

Mr. Bush — you destroyed the evidence that contradicted the resolution you jammed down the Congress's throat, the way you jammed it down the nation's throat.

When required by law to verify that your evidence was accurate, you simply re-submitted it, with phrases amounting to "See, I done proved it," virtually written in the margins in crayon.

You defied patriotic Americans to say "The Emperor has no clothes" — only with the stakes (as you and the mental dwarves in your employ put it) being a "mushroom cloud over an American city."

And as a final crash of self-indulgent nonsense, when the incontrovertible truth of your panoramic and murderous deceit has even begun to cost your political party seemingly perpetual congressional seats in places like North Carolina and — last night — Mississippi, you can actually say with a straight face, sir, that for members of Congress "the political heat gets on and they start to run and try to hide from their votes" - while you greet the political heat and try to run and hide from your presidency — and your legacy — 4,000 of the Americans you were supposed to protect, dead in Iraq, with your only feeble, pathetic answer being, "I was told by people that they had weapons of mass destruction."

Then came Mr. Bush's final blow to our nation's solar plexus, his last re-opening of our common wounds, his last remark that makes the rest of us question not merely his leadership or his judgment but his very suitably to remain in office.

"Mr. President," he was asked, "you haven't been golfing in recent years. Is that related to Iraq?

"Yes," began perhaps the most startling reply of this nightmarish blight on our lives as Americans — on our history.

"It really is. I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died, to see the Commander-in-Chief playing golf.

Bush — their lives blighted forever — care about you playing golf?

Do you think, sir, they care about you?

You, Mr. Bush, let their sons and daughters be killed.

Sir, to show your solidarity with them - you gave up golf?

Sir, to show your solidarity with them — you didn't give up your pursuit of this insurance-scam, profiteering, morally and financially bankrupting war.

Sir, to show your solidarity with them — you didn't even give up talking about Iraq — a subject about which you have incessantly proved without pause or backwards glance, that you may literally be the least informed person in the world?

Sir, to show your solidarity with them, you didn't give up your presidency?

In your own words — "solidarity as best as I can" — is to stop a game? That is the "best" you can?

4,000 Americans give up their lives and your sacrifice was to give up golf!

            Golf.

            Not "gulf" — golf.

            And still it gets worse.

Because it proves that the President's unendurable sacrifice, his unbearable pain, the suspension of getting to hit a stick with a ball, was not even his own damned idea.

"Mr. President, was there a particular moment or incident that brought you to that decision, or how did you come to that?"

"I remember when de Mello, who was at the U.N., got killed in Baghdad as a result of these murderers taking this good man's life.  And I was playing golf — I think I was in central Texas — and they pulled me off the golf course and I said, it's just not worth it any more to do."

Your one, tone-deaf, arrogant, pathetic, embarrassing gesture, and you didn't even think of it yourself?

The great Bushian sacrifice — an Army private loses a leg, a Marine loses half his skull, four thousand of their brothers and sisters lose their lives, you lose golf… and they have to pull you off the golf course to get you to just do that?

            If it's even true…

Apart from your medical files, which dutifully record your torn calf muscle and the knee pain which forced you to give up running at the same time — coincidence, no doubt — the bombing in Baghdad which killed Sergio Vieira de Mello of the U-N… and interrupted your round of golf, was on August 19th, 2003.

Yet there is an Associated Press account of you playing golf as late as Columbus Day of that year — October 13th — nearly two months later.

Mr. Bush, I hate to break it to you, six-and-a-half years after you yoked this nation and your place in history to the wrong war, in the wrong place, against the wrong people but the war in Iraq is Not. About. You.

It is not, Mr. Bush, about your grief when American after American comes home in a box.

It is not, Mr. Bush, about what your addled brain has produced in the way of paranoid delusions of risks that do not exist, ready to be activated if some Democrat, and not your twin Mr. McCain succeeds you.

The war in Iraq — your war, Mr. Bush — is about how you accomplished the derangement of two nations, and how you helped funnel billions of taxpayer dollars to lascivious and perennially thirsty corporations like Halliburton and Blackwater, and how you sent 4,000 Americans to their deaths — for nothing.

It is not, Mr. Bush, about your golf game!

And, sir, if you have any hopes that next January 20th will not be celebrated as a day of soul-wrenching, heart-felt Thanksgiving, because your faithless stewardship of this presidency will have finally come to a merciful end, this last piece of advice:

When somebody asks you, sir, about Democrats who must now pull this country back from the abyss you have placed us at…

When somebody asks you, sir, about the cooked books and faked threats you foisted on a sincere and frightened nation…

When somebody asks you, sir, about your gallant, noble, self-abnegating sacrifice of your golf game so as to soothe the families of the war dead…

            This advice, Mr. Bush…

            Shut the hell up!

Bin Laden is dead and has been dead for many years, you are lied to there are no Bin Laden tapes.  The problem is that you swill up and slobber up these lies along with the other slobbering trough dwellers, or water cooler numb nuts.
            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uwOL4rB-go

On May 15, the White House Moron, in a war-planning visit to Israel, justified the naked aggression he and Olmert are planning against Iran as the only alternative to "the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history."

            http://www.lewrockwell.com/roberts/roberts246.html

But the White House Moron has the roles reversed. It is not Iran that is threatening war. It is Bush. It is not Bush who is appeasing. It is Iran.

Iran has not responded in kind to any of Bush's warlike moves and provocations. Iran has not sunk a single one of our sitting-duck ships and has not given the Iraqi insurgents any weapons that would easily turn the tide of war against the US.

It is Bush, not Iran, who sounds like Adolf Hitler blustering and threatening. It is Bush's American Brownshirts, the neocons, who express the view: "what's the good of nuclear weapons if you can't use them."

It is the US that is funding assassination teams inside Iran and using taxpayer dollars to fund dissident and violent organizations opposed to the Iranian government. Iran is doing no such thing here.

It is members of the Bush Regime and US generals who continue to lie through their teeth about Iranian support for insurgents, for which they can supply no evidence, and about Iranian nuclear weapons programs, for which the IAEA inspectors can find no sign.

It is the US print and TV media that serves the Bush Regime as propaganda ministry for its lies of aggression.

All the war crimes that are being planned are being planned by Bush and Olmert.

What would George Orwell make of the Bush Regime's position that anything less than a direct act of naked aggression is appeasement?

The Chicago City Council has passed a resolution "opposing any US attack on Iran and urging the Bush Administration to pursue diplomatic engagement with that nation." But the White House Moron says diplomacy is appeasement. He learned this false equivalence from the neocon Brownshirts whose control over his administration has made America despised throughout the world, with the exception of Israel.

After broadcasting false claims for weeks from US generals and Bush Regime spokespersons that the US has "definite proof" in the form of captured Iranian weapons that Iranians were "responsible for killing American troops," the great free American media went silent when LA Times correspondent Tina Susman reported from Baghdad: "A plan to show some alleged Iranian-supplied explosives to journalists last week in Karbala and then destroy them was cancelled after the United States realized none of them was from Iran."

A people devoid of a media are sitting ducks for tyrannical government, which is what the US has.

What is the difference between Hitler's concocted excuses for his acts of naked aggression and the Bush Regime's plan to use a briefing by General Petraeus, with "captured Iranian weapons" as props, as proof of Iranian complicity in US deaths in Iraq as a means to break down public and congressional resistance to an attack on Iran?

Why has the Bush Regime suffered no consequences for this blatant attempt to orchestrate an excuse for another war?

Why have there been no consequences to the Regime for the blatant lies it told in order to attack Iraq?

Why has the Bush Regime suffered no consequences for its violation of US statutory laws against spying without warrants and against torture?

In the US criminal justice system, three strikes and you are out.

For the Bush Regime is there any limit on its lawless behavior?

How many strikes? A dozen? Thirty? Three hundred?

            Is there a limit?

"It's the roman empire all over again with treacherous Caesars and eloqent Ciceros. Blessed are the humble."

                I wish.

The problem this time around is that EACH and EVERY  living soul must pick up for themselves, step  by step, a growing sense of THE spiritual reality behind the demise of TIME- otherwise, each and everyone will get cooked through allowing themselves to be  literally cloned by a demonic spirit force/being.

Even the humble must get off their butts and really think- with immense courage and imagination, because this MATRIX that's already beating down on a good part of America at least, is no BABY!!!

                C.

"Even the humble must get off their butts and really think- with immense courage and imagination, because this MATRIX that's already beating down on a good part of America at least, is no BABY!!!"

Incredible as it may seem, a Western man by the name of Rudolf Steiner lived among simple folk like us less than a century ago for the purpose of laying out the score for us  all, in simple enough language- inspite of the immensity of the  impending conditions which he foresaw  pending.

I guess it did take a whole lot of courage with a slight touch of a cosmic spirit of humour.

RS: "every change has to be made by human beings and that therefore every condition that's brought about for the social order arises from human thoughts and feelings...

Theosophy tells us that the social order is created by men and that it's the result of human thoughts and feelings...

"Anyone who wants to become an esoteric in the theosophical sense must train his thought life so that every thought is thought through sufficiently. Short thinking is the sign of a materialist. Theosophical esoterics must not fall into comfortable thinking. Take the thought of social democracy: Change the circumstances and a man will have better living and working conditions — that's a belief of materialism, short and deceiving. This belief is very paralyzing for every study of social life. Now how can a theosophist free himself from this materialistic belief that existence and even morality would improve if one would just improve outer conditions? Let's begin with the reflection that every change has to be made by human beings and that therefore every condition that's brought about for the social order arises from human thoughts and feelings. Once one has this thought firmly in mind one can free oneself from the materialistic view that everything is brought about by external conditions.

A budding esoteric should gather proofs that no improvement of the world occurs through the creation of better outer conditions. Theosophy tells us that the social order is created by men and that it's the result of human thoughts and feelings. So one should cultivate thoughts and feelings and not change the social order. An esoteric asks: Where does this condition that's worthy of being changed come from? And if the condition is not veiled by nature he sees that the condition was brought about by the thoughts and will impulses of men who lived before him. So conditions are the way they are now because men made them that way through their inadequate thoughts and feelings. Spiritual science wants to implement a mighty education of our innermost soul forces so that the social life will shape itself out of other thoughts and feelings. What this means is that spiritual science has no patented recipe about how this or that is supposed to be done on this or that post, it doesn't judge anyone, but it's very confident that everyone will arrive at a right judgment if he's permeated by the fundamental truths. One such truth is that poverty, misery and suffering are nothing but the result of egoism. One should look upon this as a law of nature. A man is egotistical as soon as he lives in accordance with the principle: I must be remunerated personally, I must be paid for the work that I do. An esoteric must ask himself whether work is really what sustains life. Work is of no importance if it isn't directed wisely. What serves men can only be produced and made through the wisdom that men put into it. One who doesn't understand this and who sins against it even slightly, sins against the social thinking of the present time.

Reflection on this in all of its possible phases strengthens thinking. A social democrat who reflects on how to create work to get rid of joblessness is thinking antisocially in the highest degree. Instead the main thing is that work should only be used for human beings, to create valuable produce. In a social community the work impulse must lie in devotion for the whole, and never in a man's personality. It follows from this that real social progress is only possible if I work for the good of the whole. In other words: The work I do mustn't be for myself. Social progress is completely dependent on the acceptance of this statement, that one doesn't want to get paid personally for one's work. A man owes work to the social community. Conversely, a man must restrict his existence to what the social community gives him. The counterpart to such social thinking must also be followed exactly. You know the example that a seamstress works for little pay and that social democrats tell the workers: You're being exploited. But now the seamstress goes out and buys a cheap dress to go dancing on Sunday. She asks for a cheap dress. But why is the dress cheap? Because another worker was exploited. So in the end, who's exploiting the worker? Certainly the seamstress who wears a cheap dress to go dancing on Sunday. One who can think clearly here already gets away from the distinction between rich and poor, for this has nothing to do with wealth and poverty. Therefore the foundations must first be created so that in future men will work hard and devotedly without thinking of personal advantage.

Suppose that someone invents a remedy and wants to patent it right away. This shows that he was thinking of a personal advantage and that he isn't filled with love for all mankind. For if men's health was the most important thing for him he would be anxious to report what's in the remedy and how it's made. And something else would happen — he'd be convinced that the remedy that was made with his sentiments was the better one.

Here we've come to a statement that's very important in esotericism: Ways of ennobling the soul must be arrived at. One who uses his thinking to attain beneficial progress must first see to it that human souls are ennobled.

Therewith we'll place the Rosicrucian verse at the end:

From that power that all beings binds
The man frees himself who self-mastery finds.

                        Bradford brought;

"All of this after the fact, on the way out, don't let the door hit as you leave, in other words, cracking open the 21st century with the full tango of Ahriman and the PNAC, Project for a New Ahrimanic Century and as well as when that was written and signed the opening of the Matrix Series, coming from a long line of DATES  Time codes, and that in specific was 1998/9, Ahriman created a production value stylized knock out of the long after Ahriman has had his way and had his day with humanity, humanity finally attempts to pull a Bodhisattva, Mr. Anderson against the fall of all of the Angels of humanity in a psychic/electronic world of the absolute densified human double."

                        Angel-A (2005)

                        Bradford comments;

At issue, understanding cultural insights:  We can't say that we can give a great deal of credit to Anthros for shared insights into how our humanity, how our human community gains a grasp of understanding the deeper issues behind the Michael School as it filters through our current culture.  Sometimes it is inspiring to know that Initiation insights and deeper theme paradigms will constantly haunt humanity and Spiritual Science studies will constantly be the source point of film, books, and media events.  Carol may like music, myself, as a graduate of the School of Speech and Drama have credentials both in film and stage, as well as depth of Word studies in the 20th century that permit me to share the depths of certain insights and evaluate them out of the Michael School.  Anyone could do it and most of us do it unconsciously or superfically.

Case in point- The French film,  Angel - A.   Angel -A is the awakening of one worthless soul's Angel, as the Angel comes alive in him again and is either on assignment or we can outline a certain depth that our Angels have to go, in the soul, in order to recover our worthless asses.  Angel - A is very worthwhile seeing.  For decades we have been thankful that Frank Capra allowed the whole tableau and panorama of a human biography that an Angel bears, and carries, a star implanted, Michael enhanced, human biography full of the cognitive moral impulses that only humans can carry through.  "It's a Wonderful Life" not only has inspired and kept our connection with our Angelic companions in an apparently simplified pablum tale that could be the discount knock-down, bargain basement visualization of an immense problem that goes back to the core of Spiritual Science studies and 869, but it has kept it's freshness for decades...decades.

In Angel -A, like "It's a Wonderful Life" the destiny of an individual is pressed towards suicide and at the moment of prayer of last minute prayer, the Angel swoops down in a River scene where the human being who was about to commit suicide jumps into to save his very own Angel.  Right here we have the WATERS.. the Etheric Waters and at the intersection of baptism and drowning and near death, a glimpse into the intimate connections of life are flashed back onto the audience eyeballs.  Now of course Anthros have admired and enjoyed "It's a Wonderful Life", but Anthros rarely keep up with the entire themes we have explored on this list when it comes to the suffocation of the Angels themselves.... Such a powerful fact based and visual statement by Steiner has deeply seeped into the obvious reality of culture so that behind the scenes and where Anthros should be supporting the intuitive grasp of a gigantic Angelic World sharing of humanity and how the Angelic world experienced the reverberations of the earthly crucifixion of Christ to the Etheric crucifixion of the Christ in the Ethers, all wrapped up in a 1933 package deeply dipped in TIME ethers and Steiner's vas Pisces Initiation biographical reality.  Anthros are deeply invested in the Time Ethers of Michael and how the neighboring Angelic Community have intimately shared the shattering events of Golgotha and the echo in the ethers of the Golgotha event up into the Angelic world.

Such rich, rich considerations allow us to applaud certain efforts in humanity that certainly were not approved by the Vorstand.  Rather it behooves Michael Students to pay attention to the intimate and poignant attempts from our human community to grasp the real pickle of a situation we are in with our Angels currently....and skip the religious thick goo that smothers the whole intimate affair of our Angel and us, our Love and our own higher being as the nurturing Angel would beg to help us, and also give us our freedom.  Each human being is required to wrest free of the church and societal handcuffs and find their Angel, find the fresh face of their higher being and their Angels as low or where they discover them... and thereby a whole sound and solid religion of the Soul is born by the very fact that we know not when the desperation moment arrives when the Angel and the Human soul will suddenly find each other and face the truth about each other.  But we do know that it is truly the core of Spiritual Science training to understand how the catharsis operates in the initiation model of the soul.  The initiation model, bar none, in every soul.  There are no exceptions to the rule if you are human.  Bar none, no exceptions are the initiation rules of catharsis and heart wrenching required to understand the religious awe of our most intimate Spiritual Companions.

Spiritual Companions that truly love us as no lover, no lover ever could.

                        Review notes

"...the big unanswered question is – how did a little man who has a reputation for being a deadbeat deserve this striking beauty's help? While he was waiting to jump, he asked for God's help and suddenly Angela appeared. Still, he is an unlikely candidate for celestial intervention.

"Debbouze portrays Andre with humorous overtones as he and his tag-a-long angel take in the nightlife of Paris. By now, Andre is falling in love with Angela, as she acts as his guardian angel. Thanks to Angela, he is flush with cash, so what does he do–pay off his debts? No, he places a bet on a "sure thing" horse race. Of course he loses, but Angela forgives him. Of course, the viewer is thinking wow, Andre is a real loser who doesn't deserve an angel's help.

"Besson created a parable about these two characters who come from separate universes, but who come together and, in an inexplicable way, become compatible mates."

Review notes for the critical Anthro Eye-

"...we get a too-predictable retread of It's A Wonderful Life or Wings Of Desire but plucked of their respective humour, warmth, and pathos and oozing cheap sentimentality. "

                        Bradford concludes;

The result of the hard hearted and hardened soul life is to truly reject any mighty background sketches that Steiner or Bradford or A.C. Harwood and our Angelic Companions or one of my inspirations Frances Edmunds the founder of Emerson College would say, having met these fine individuals and Harwood signing my membership in the British Society, well, hard hearted and oozing with cheap sentimentality might be the review of those hearts who truly are touched by the education of our children.  Sentimentality in a rough age, is where the Anthro learns to appreciate the efforts of human beings who sense behind the scenes, intimate events that they can't understand or haven't been introduced to because Anthros are so scarce.  But there it stands, Angel -A dips into an area like It's A Wonderful Life or Wings Of Desire, and so these films can be accused of cheap sentimentality.  And if we look deeply into what some of our Anthros project as how they hover round cheap sentimentality and fail to plunge into the intuitions of the age and fail to penetrate the Imaginations, even the Ahrimanic Imaginations and understand what is happening under the surface of human intuition and insights, well most Anthros find themselves protected by what the rest of the world interprets as cheap sentimentality.

Is it cheap sentimentality?  Not exactly if your heart and thinking continue to plunge deeper and deeper into the mystery of our Angelic companions and have studied and continue to study the Angels Work in the Astral Body of Man, by Dr. Steiner.... Or we look over the ramifications of materialism and the suffocation and cancer forces that reflect themselves in humanities loss and failure to connect to their Angels that goes back to 869 and even the Grail and how Spirit Self worked for Parsifal and how Spirit Self appeared in the Science Initiate Steiner.  We get more and more profoundly interested in the tracks humanity attempts to understand, that somehow they came from a spiritual world and somehow the clues of that spiritual world can be found no where in such a precise format as Spiritual Science.   But Spiritual Science students are apparently oozing with cheap sentimentality.  Warm hearts and cognitive thinking, empathy, compassion and germinal forces of love that arise through the sentient soul, intellectual soul and emerge into a universe with the Consciousness Soul and all of humanity at stake, well you tell me, are Anthros generally a bunch of cheap sentimentalists?

                          Bradford comments;

One of the fatal flaws of Anthros, when they look upon research Steiner placed before them, is that somehow if Steiner spoke about it in the early 20th century, we are either past this point or the worst is over.  We come back again and again to the study themes of our relation to our Angels because without a doubt, there has been and continues to be a wholly new set of religious values, spiritual world values and insight to be won, when each human being discovers on their path of destiny and meets the reflection of their higher beings that the Angels have kept in dynamic relationship to each individuals soul and destiny. How important is this moment of catharsis, desperation, a meeting so intimate and profound, so shattering and able to shake us out of theory and opinion and literally set us in the living thought world with sudden illumination.  An illumination, however brief that awakens and starts a process that frees up the soul.

                          J.M.W. Turner
                          Angel Standing in the Sun
                          1846

Now things may be like religion as echos and memories of Spiritual World experiences and robed priests and mantrams...and the understanding of the silent word of inner prayer, but the meeting with our own unique Angels is not an external religion.  No longer is it merely something like or seeming of the same feeling as we had been justified in soaking in and listening to the drone or inspiration of some feathered headed priest muddle through some fragments, stale toast of Biblical references that enshrine Jesus as a good and nice fellow just like us and water down the whole experience to mush.  Well for a long, long time that sentient well being and feeling comforts the soul that somehow there is a world where a religious feeling predominates over the general political, economic and media spin zone.

But all of those props and crutches eventually give way, somewhere along our path we find that our Angel awakens from its suffocation, it's own crucifixion and we find ourselves somewhere in a moment of desperation and catharsis.  How we trudged there, how we journeyed there, how we got ourselves into such an extreme pickle of the soul and spirit, shrouded in materialism has everything to do with how Steiner described the Etheric Christ ascending into the Angel world and the etheric thought world and finding Itself crucified  and the entire Angelic community, blocked out and suffocated by toxic materialism.  Well now the materialism is thick, subtle and coming around again to the big picture that was brutally presented in the mini-drama known as the Fall of Nazi Germany and The Fall of the Spirits of Darkness into deep, deep caverns of the soul, where the brutal forces marshalled brutal darkness in the very home of the Soul, against the Light that could be found.

Sharp contrasts, and sharp catharsis, pressure of darkness and streaming thoughts of how to corkscrew and ScrewTape Letters and selfishly darkened day in and day out thoughts of how to drown our children in available materialistic education and force them to be swallowed as well or pressed to desperation and catharsis when no answer is forthcoming from pulpits, Poples or Presidents... No answer from teachers, bosses or the media, but in each individual karmic perspective and probably in each new lifetime, the moment of recognition and Angelic Pauline values of seeing the I AM of your I AM face to face... well it can be described many different ways from Near Death Experiences to a quiet and intimate revelation that certainly nobody but you and your Angel experienced.

"12 We see now through a glass in a dark manner; but then face to face. Now I know in part; but then I shall know even as I am known. "  It appears just like so many precious words and as words they have uplifted humanity, but the actual experience, even the dramatic plots that we discussed in "Angel - A" and "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Wings of Desire" can hardly encompass the powerful intimacy of how our Angel revives in us.  How our Angel recovers in us. How our inner navigation finds it's own human center and orientation and learn slowly to read the compass of our soul.

Dr. Rudolf Steiner -  Angels Work in the Astral Body of Man.

                          http://home.earthlink.net/~johnrpenner/Articles/AngelsWork.html

"...according to the intention underlying the work of
the Angels, things are to be very different in future. Neither in theory
nor in practice shall we look only at man's physical qualities,
regarding him as a more highly developed animal, but we must confront
every human being with the full realisation that in him something is
revealing itself from the divine foundations of the world, revealing
itself through flesh and blood. To conceive man as a picture revealed
from the spiritual world, to conceive this with all the earnestness, all
the strength and all the insight at our command -- this is the impulse
laid by the Angels into the pictures...

"Once this is fulfilled, there will be a very definite consequence. The
basis of all free religious feeling that will unfold in humanity in the
future will be the acknowledgment, not merely in theory but in actual
practice, that every human being is made in the likeness of the Godhead.
                          When that time comes there will be no need for any religious coercion;
for then every meeting between one man and another will of itself be in
the nature of a religious rite, a sacrament, and nobody will need a
special Church with institutions on the physical plane to sustain the
religious life. If the Church understands itself truly, its one aim must
be to render itself unnecessary on the physical plane, as the whole of
life becomes the expression of the supersensible.

"The bestowal on man of complete freedom in the religious life -- this
underlies the impulses, at least, of the work of the Angels. "

                          Bradford concludes;

You see something stirs in the cognitive depths of the slumbering and imprisoned human I and intellect, and of course there can be an unexpected intense event or catharsis... but it often is not what we expect in terms of comfortable religious feelings... until our I AM actually understands that a new cognitive source of experience has awakened from either imprisonment in materialism or just comatose slumber.  Otherwise we walk around blending in with our neighbors and going to our jobs and raising our families and it really is a sort of illusive slumber to imagine that the education we chose... Now this gets back to the history factor, humanity chose a certain path to awaken itself... Just as the Greeks raised the choice between the path of Helen of Troy, Love and Aphrodite -  Atena or Hera.  Humanity chose Aphrodite and supported Helen and history presents us with the city called Paris.

I don't wish to disturb the newbies from their slumbers, OR DO I?  The point is that as we approached 1933 and the tension between Michael Intelligence and Ahrimanic Intelligence converged for us at the dawn of the 20th century... Humanity chose to be awakend via the catharsis of Ahrimanic Intelligence and tragedy, Wars upon Wars, tragedy and violence with the option that, the get out of jail card, the cognitive potential to stir the depths of our being and choose the path of Michael Intelligence was always optional.

Michael Intelligence is optional and potential where you can discover the lore and secrets of how we reawaken and stir our cognitive forces so that we awaken our Angels and also remove the suffocating imprisionment that full throttle materialistic drenched thinking today, in every venue of Education, save those with a Michael Intelligence bent... and as proven in my most recent post about the rubbish, the reems of rubbish that universities in the swamp of the Intellectual Soul present, as such, did Aristotle go to Egypt and swipe books and plagiarize his great works from Egypt? -

Or as sanity and Michael Intelligence grasps, Aristotle had a very highly compressed thinking faculty and was a unique and potent observer and in fact Observation and Thinking and Percept and Concept from the Philosophy of Freedom to Spiritual Science and Eurythmy, we might say is profoundly connected to the intimate forces in the soul and spirits reincarnation faculties of the said individual Aristotle.  Remembering and recalling and calling up experiences from Aristotles' previous experiences and previous lifetimes...well Michael Intel puts materialistic scholarship in the dust. And our Angels and Aristotles' Angel diligently was kept alive and awake through very lopsided and intense thinking and observational faculties that Aristotle had  acquired.  Aristotle was a top heavy accountant in the thinking department.  Alexander's head would ache in following the thought intensity of Aristotle... And for the unschooled all the hype around the great Aristotle is hardly hype at all.  Aristotle and Aristocrats appear to be a curious connection..  And dead and dumb university materialism truly loves the lay the foundations of thinking and materialism with dead versions and doomed interpretations of Aristotle and Plato.

In fact for the Intellectual Soul  and the Anthro with Michael Intel we can look upon the feeble Platonist Leo Strauss who laid the foundation for the lethal Ahrimanic forces that have surfaced, not only from Leo Strauss escaping from the fallen Nazi Weimar where Steiner and Goethe made their bones, but Leo Strauss and the whole dead zone of intellect, sweet talk, numbing talk, watered down, bone dead history on Aristotle and Plato are the very tools that finally surfaced in 1998 under the document known as Project for a New Ahrimanic Century or the PNAC document.  Paul Wolfowitz  was taught by Leo Strauss and outlined the document that became the new Ahrimanic and Orwellian Thomas Jefferson document for the Neocons for pre-emptive, false flag and materialistic manipulations of 9/11 - London Train bombings or 7/11 and Spain as well as the build up with Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma bombings.... and countless COUNTER INTEL and twisted car bombings and blowing up of Mosques in order to forment and Spin Intel... All this is the choice we made to find our Angels amid the Fall of the Spirits of Darkness that now again surround with intensity, our frail and feeble humanity.

"The PNAC blueprint supports an earlier document written by Wolfowitz and Libby that said the US must 'discourage advanced industrial nations from challenging our leadership or even aspiring to a larger regional or global role'. "

Now that was a little segue off the trail of the Angel into the optional Intel Wars that are currently fighting in the sub regions of our Intellectual Soul over the carcass of our numbed Angelic faculties.  It all began with a new religious sense of truth that will and can awaken in each human being when we recover the keys to awaken and stimulate our Angels back into the service of the goals of humanity.  When the Angel and my I AM learn to be nourished by insights into the true foundations of humanities higher being and their goals.  And in conclusion, these events are intimate, they change the whole paradigm and not always in a twinkling of the eye, but as a seed that when nurtured in the experiences of the soul, grows like Jack and the Bean Stalk.... a little triad of seeds and when cultivated and nurtured, when suddenly stirred and awoken from some catharsis a whole new Religious Truth prevails and sheds it's cognitive courage over every encounter with every human being we have.

Now to shed light on the sentimentality of religion vs what we truly encounter at some point in desperation or catharsis we should compare two different pictures.

                          And of course This;

Specific case in point of Angels work in the Astral Body on the Moon return rhythm of 18.5 to 19 years that particularly inserts a meeting regularly through our Freedom and Destiny, with our Angels. How do we know we can understand the accuracy of destiny, biography and catharsis in human development? We understand it by observing the precise patterns of destiny.  Case in point Scott McClellan.  Ripe news.  Easily related to awakening our perception of the organ of destiny and an easy study and it sits right on the current events rostrum.  Here we are and here it is.  We haved studied this from Steiners lectures to the Priests where he merely whispers the connection that we have outlined in dozens of posts, of the 19 to 18.5 rhythm pattern.  Steiner's lectures to priests which are an Initiate of the Fifth Epoch, the Age of destiny and the Fish, an Initiate of the Michael School who looks backwards to the great Initiate text of the Oriphiel and Saturn Initiate, Lazarus John or St. John Revelation.

Now when Carol reviews the weighing in karmically of The Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreuz, she knows of what she is seeing.  Here we understand the SEVEN planetary weights and how we are weighed in the scales for our planetary weights and mental and spiritual errors. Weighed with the feather of Matt out of Egypt and Isis.  Isis might well be part of our Virgin.  She weighs what? We see no visible marks, scars, each weight is a powerful condensed force and the weights are in direct relation to the planets.  We carry with us after death no specific material, only our moral essence which is lighter than a feather, yet what we have imprinted in the planets is so weighty and specific that we apparently have wounded our higher natures.  Catharis on Earth and Spiritual Justice in terms of the Christ and Christian Rosenkreuz and the new Karmic insights of the School of Spiritual Science come into play as the laws of reconcilliation in a brilliant Imagination wrought out of the Initiation of Christian Rosenkreuz.

Sun - Moon - Mars - Venus - Saturn - Jupiter - Mercury I place in no particular order but to say that Sun Logos and Etheric Christ as the Sun scale of the balance against the Ahrimanic Foundation Stone and the Anti-Sun errors against the Sun Logos would make an interesting dent in a persons karmic make up.  The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa and the Martin Luther King Jr issue of attempting model acts of intense moral catharsis as conscious events in human cognition, that humanity becomes awake to, stimulates the intensity of the Mars forces and stands upon everything of moral cognition in the human spirit.  One can not only see the faint outlines of the Chymical Wedding scene depicted by Carol in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa, but we also in our intimate research had tracked Gandhi - MLK, Jr and Thoreau's Civil Disobedience back to Buddha, St. Francis and the transformation of the Mars influences.

The following whole text is utterly outstanding in terms of human efforts to build a cognitive world of moral forces.

                                http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/stories/s68877.htm

"The most remarkable story is, of course, that of Nelson Mandela, who walked from prison after 28 years, forgiving his captors and becoming a powerful symbol for healing in a bitterly divided nation.

"Another powerful chapter in South Africa's transition from repression to healing was the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, chaired by Nobel Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu, which offered amnesties as a carrot to anyone prepared to tell the truth about the country's brutal past.

"What followed was an extraordinary chronicle of man's inhumanity to man, but also of man's wonderful capacity to forgive. Archbishop Tutu is in Australia to receive the Sydney Peace Prize and I spoke to him about our own struggles with reconciliation.

"Desmond Tutu, with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, you rejected a focus of conventional justice on instead finding the truth, without the automatic threat of punishment."

Example CURRENT Angels work in the Astral body.

                                Bradford comments;

Barr McClellan is the father of Scott McClellan, the White House press secretary. Barr McClellan, Scott's dad discovers while working as a lawyer in an exclusive firm, out of Austin Texas, that killing Kennedy was an inside job and he finds out and quits the law firm and starts his own. Now how amazing is this? The Bush Dynasty who hates the Kennedy dynasty, and the Bush fingerprints are all over the Kennedy assassination, hire the infatuated young Scott to mindlessly parrot a stream of rubbish, thereby making little Scotty their porno sex slave, while they lie, murder, torture and continue with their unholy horror show.  Here Scott's dad, Barr Mclellan found himself in the same situation and wrote a tell all book.  Scott awakens from his trained monkey coma, suddenly sees the emperor has absolutely no cloths, has been butt naked the whole time that he was hired to dress him up and pipe to the Press what wonderful style and beauty his wardrobe was. Scott wakes up and Scott's Dad had awoken to the same dreadful gnawing and ugly reality that most of us have been facing.

What can you make of this, Dallas and Austin and W's Dad, the senior Bush was knowingly and clearly in Dallas at the time of the Kennedy assassinations and sweetly becomes head of the CIA to control the flow of evidence.  The Bush dynasty, the Kennedy dynasty, Scott becomes the laughing stock, because Scott's Dad had already called it an inside job... Now little Scotty, gets off his trained monkey station, and his epiphany is that it is all a pack of lies and the MSM lied and everyone enabled the liars and wouldn't it be great to open this whole can of lies and inside jobs and get the whole lot of them to stand trial as War criminals.  Really, with destiny, you can't make this stuff up.  Destiny and the study of destiny is always, always as rich as the mighty destiny maps and studies of all of Shakespeare's plays...  Only we have had to add Ahriman and Mephistopheles into the dramatic personnae. The riddles of destiny and how the Angelic World opens up our sight to uncover the brilliant twists and turns and machinations, the learning of it all, the vision of it all, awakens the organ for the perception of understanding destiny.

Scott is now 40 he was born on Valentines day, 1968.  He began having his inner epiphany at his second Moon node, between 18.5 and 19 years, we cross the point where the Angelic community shows us and gives us our higher beings goals and destiny web....in other words we can at these moment come to meeting with our Angels.  On the second pass, at say 38 years, Scott passes through a meeting with his Angelic guardian again, and this time there is a significant change, and Scott feels the change deep in his being and feels it solidly change his entire view of his destiny and from that moral epiphany perspective he writes his book.  It comes out when Scott is now 40.  Biography, destiny, really you can't make this up, you just have to marvel at the science of biography.

"In 2003 McClellan published Blood Money and Power: How L.B.J. Killed J.F.K. In the book McClellan argues that Lyndon B. Johnson and Edward Clark were involved in the planning and cover-up of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. McClellan also named Malcolm Wallace as one of the assassins. The killing of Kennedy was paid for by oil millionaires such as Clint Murchison and Haroldson L. Hunt. McClellan claims that Clark got $2 million for this work.

"The assassination of Kennedy allowed the oil depletion allowance to be kept at 27.5 per cent. It remained unchanged during the Johnson presidency. According to McClellan this resulted in a saving of over 100 million dollars to the American oil industry. Soon after Johnson left office it dropped to 15 per cent.

Barr McClellan studied at the University of Texas in Austin. As a student McClellan was a strong supporter of John F. Kennedy. After qualifying as a lawyer he went to work for the administration of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Initially he worked for the National Labor Relations Board but in 1964 he became an attorney for the Federal Power Commission.

In 1966 McClellan joined the legal firm of Clark, Thomas and Winters, based in Austin, Texas. At that time the firm was run by the partners Edward Clark, Sam Winters, Don Thomas and Frank Denius. The company was closely associated with Lyndon B. Johnson and the Democratic Party in Texas. McClellan's work included advising on political strategy, campaign contributions, media issues and labour disputes.

In 1972 McClellan became a full partner in the legal firm. It was only at this stage that he was told about the illegal activities of the firm. John Cofer explained how the partners dealt with criminal activity: "In short, we helped plan crimes and keep the clients out of trouble." Soon afterwards he discovered that one of the partners, Edward Clark, had been involved in planning the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

McClellan eventually resigned from the firm after a dispute with Edward Clark. In 1977 he established his own law firm. Some of McClellan notable cases include litigation for exploding Ford Pintos, tobacco-caused expenses on the health care system and the licensing and regulation of cell phones. He also obtained a Supreme Court ruling to protect parklands from freeways.

McClellan is the father of Scott McClellan, the White House press secretary, and Mark McClellan, the Food and Drug Administration Commissioner. "

                                http://home.earthlink.net/~johnrpenner/Articles/AngelsWork.html

                                When that time comes there will be no need for any religious coercion;
for then every meeting between one man and another will of itself be in
the nature of a religious rite, a sacrament, and nobody will need a
special Church with institutions on the physical plane to sustain the
religious life. If the Church understands itself truly, its one aim must
be to render itself unnecessary on the physical plane, as the whole of
life becomes the expression of the supersensible.

"The bestowal on man of complete freedom in the religious life -- this
underlies the impulses, at least, of the work of the Angels. "

                                Bradford concludes;

                                  Five great auditory illusions

As part of our special issue on music, Daniel Levitin has written The Music Illusion, which looks at auditory illusions and how they can help us understand the workings of the human brain. Here we have compiled five of the most striking auditory illusions discovered so far.

We had a big pool to choose from, from the mysterious quintina (fifth voice) heard in some types of throat-singing, to the saxophone break that isn't on Lady Madonna (it's actually the Beatles singing into their cupped hands - not to be confused with the actual sax solo) and the soaring guitar sound of Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour. Listen to our top 5 below, and read our explanations of the effects involved.

1 Barber's shop illusion (Listen with headphones)

This is a demonstration of the stereo effect. Listening to it, you feel as though you are in a barber's chair, with the barber moving around you, clipping away at your hair. As the barber "moves" to your right, the volume increases slightly in the right channel and decreases in the left. Similarly, increases in the volume of sound from the clippers give the impression that he is bringing them closer and closer to each ear. The illusion demonstrates our ability to locate sounds in space; by comparing the inputs to the two ears, we can work out where a sound is coming from.

2 Phantom words (Listen through stereo separated loudspeakers, best placed some distance apart)

This illusion was first demonstrated by Diana Deutsch at the University of California, San Diego. Building on the stereo effect described above, the recording features overlapping sequences of repeating words or phrases, located in different regions of stereo space. As you listen to it, you'll start to pick out specific phrases. However, none of the phrases are really there. Your brain is constructing them, in a bid to make sense of a meaningless noise. Indeed, you may find that the phrases you hear are related to what's on your mind – for example, people who are dieting often hear phrases associated with food.

                                  3 Temporal induction of speech

Much of human perception is the result of the brain filling in gaps in the data from our senses. This means that if a part of an audio recording is missing, our brains will often work out what should have been there. In this recording by Richard Warren from the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, a spoken sentence is interrupted by a cough. One of the phonemes has actually been completely removed by the cough. But not only do most people hear the complete sentence, they generally find it very difficult to work out which phoneme has been deleted. If the phoneme is replaced by a period of silence, rather than a cough, the deletion is very obvious.

4 Scale illusion (Listen through stereo headphones, or stereo separated loudspeakers, best placed some distance apart)

Another effect first demonstrated by Diana Deutsch, this is an example of our brains "grouping" similar notes together. Two major scales are played: one ascending, one descending. However, the notes alternate from ear to ear – for instance, the right ear hears the first note of one scale, and then the second note of the other (see diagram, top right).

There are several ways in which people perceive these sounds, but the most common is to group the high and low notes together. Rather than hearing the two scales, people hear a descending and re-ascending melody in one ear, and an ascending and descending melody in the other. In other words, the brain reassigns some of the notes to a different ear in order to make a coherent melody. Right-handed people tend to hear the high melody in the right ear, and the low one in the left, while left-handers show a more diverse response.

                                  5 Phantom melodies

Some pieces of music consist of high-speed arpeggios or other repeating patterns, which change only subtly. If they're played fast enough, the brain picks up on the occasional notes that change, and links them together to form a melody. The melody disappears if the piece is played slowly.

Compare these recordings of Christian Sinding's Frühlingsrauschen ("Rustle of Spring"). At the higher speed, the changing notes linger in your perception long enough to be linked into a melody, but at the lower speeds they're too widely separated. Frühlingsrauschen, full speed

                                  Frühlingsrauschen, one-quarter speed
