Help Save the Mexican Wolf!

With only
eight Mexican wolves left in the American Southwest, we
need your
help to ensure that the most critically
endangered wolf in the world stays on the
road to
recovery.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) recently
approved an important proposal to move previously
reintroduced endangered gray wolves into New Mexicos Gila
Wilderness and surrounding national forest lands -- an area
far away from roads, people and livestock. The
ability to move wolves is a valuable management option
that allows for quick responses to conflicts that have
resulted in the death of livestock and wolves.

In
order for wolves to gain a foothold in the Southwest,
like their counterparts in
Yellowstone and central
Idaho, additional Mexican wolves must be reintroduced
into this remote area. Releasing Mexican wolves into
the Gila Wilderness will
significantly reduce
conflicts with people and livestock, avoid wolf deaths,
and
expose wolves to abundant native prey.

However,
anti-wolf interests are mobilizing against any future
reintroductions. Help save the critically endangered Mexican wolf
by visiting http://www.savewolves.org. Send a free
e-mail to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service urging them
to allow the release of Mexican wolves that have not
been previously released into this remote area of New
Mexico.

Mexican Wolf Recovery Campaign
Defenders of Wildlife
