      Dear AWS members

There are always new things being discovered and it takes a wide
spread crew to help share the finds.

A recent Des Moines Register article told of a new find in Southwest
Iowa, that is being kept secret as far as the location, for the present.

A mammoth bone was found sticking out of a ravine behind a house near
a small town. The second year of excavation has yielded another
mammoth and parts of ancient trees that were also found. Several Iowa
Universities have been part of the dig.

The young son of the landowner originally noticed the bone and told
his father. The article appeared this week in the paper as well as
last year when the first mammoth, which appears to be a complete
      skeleton, was found.
