Mantras and the New Albin Tablet?
- The following discussion is expanded upon from a discussiou with Pam.
The New Albin Tablet is indeed such a cool image. I have attached the
photos that Kenneth A. Block Chief Ranger of Effigy Mounds National
Monument sent about it.
Here is a pdf link that has a pretty good description about the New
Comapre this image with the matras shown here:
In a Pomo Myth, a lizard 'Hatanutal' created all humans. Notice the
lizard-form in the center of the handless rain bird, aka "birdman" or
lightning-wielding goddess form. It seems to indicate the lizard in
both directions as if being born from the mother goddess. I think
this image dates back to at least Vedantic times and it is one of the
50 original Matrikas, maybe of Siddhi (success in powers gained at
each astral centre, the top of the head is far beyond the astral
life, anima). The outer edges of the tablet closely represent the
cracks in the vulva- petroglyphed wall at Piney Creek Ravine. Arthur
Avalon writes in his book called the Serpent Power that Kundalini is
the static form of the creative energy which is the source of all
energies. Perhaps the Divine cosmic energy or power in bodies, a
method of realization, hurakan or lightning whose centres are
depicted as animal glyphs. Goddess Devi, that which is coiled, form
is that of a coiled and sleeping serpent in the lowest bodily centre
at the base of the spinal column until by the means described she is
aroused in that Yoga which is named after her Kundalini Yoga - aka
Tantric Yoga. That is the purification of the elements of the body,
the end of which is beyond all heaven worlds - the union of that
which is the source of all worlds. As you know, that power which
exists at the lowest centre at the base of the spine serpent power in
seven degrees of force. The cause of all and though manifesting as
any of her products, it is not confined to these. She maintains all
the spirits of the world by means of inspiration and expiration. All
forces are therefore in Her. Accordingly, Native American mythology
represents the highest heavens are the top of the head. The Attached
photo fo the Piney Creek Vs New Albin is a comparison of the
petroglyph at Piney Creek Ravine with the New albin tablet .
Also, this tablet was published in the Volume 25, December 1963 issue
of The Missouri Archaeologist.
