A crowdsourced archaeology project you can join - in Mongolia !!
- "Crowdsourcing " is the term used when an immense project is divided among a large group of participants. The internet has facilitated a variety of such projects, such as scanning star maps looking for different types of galaxies.
The National Geographic Society website has a crowdsourced project which asks participants to study satellite photos of Mongolia and "tag" significant findings (roads, ancient structures, modern structures). There is a demo at the webpage to show how it works, and if you are interested you can sign up and start scanning satellite pix. The National Geographic Society has a ground team that follows up to check the identified targets.
