      The Amman Filmmakers Cooperative (AFC)

      November 8, 2004

AFC TO PILOT THREE NEW EDUCATIONAL
      TRACKS IN MOTION GRAPHICS.

      New tracks cover Basic 2D & 3D
      Motion Graphics and Game Design.

      Why Motion Graphics

What makes the text in TV commercials move around the screen with such
lucidity? How do human characters move in cartoons? What are some of
the basic techniques used to create the interesting animated
backgrounds and foregrounds seen in some TV station identification
clips? How can today's software tools help computer game designers
create vast and intricate worlds for their epic battles?

The exponential rise in desktop computing power and the drastic
improvements in the usability of 2D and 3D animation software tools
opened up a whole new world of creativity for institutional and
independent filmmakers. As a result, motion graphics and other
animation processes that often consumed days and required extensive
technical expertise can now be performed in hours.

      Moving Forward With Motion Graphics

A number of AFC members have expressed interest in motion graphics but
were discouraged by the steep learning-curve. To help demystify motion
graphics and to assist aspiring motion graphics producers take their
first step into this exciting digital world, the AFC will introduce a
series of workshops with live demonstrations to showcase various
      topics in motion graphics.

THE NEW TRACKS ARE NETHER DESIGNED TO TEACH THE FULL CAPABILITIES OF
THE SOFTWARE TOOLS NOR TO IMPART THE FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT
MATTERS COVERED. The workshops are designed to empower filmmakers with
additional skills they can call upon for future productions or to
      continue to more advanced workshops.

      Workshop Agenda (tentative)

Below is the tentative agenda of the motion graphics workshops:

      COMMON INTRODUCTION (3 hours)
      - Screening of award-winning motion graphics productions.
      - Concepts: motion graphics.
      - Concepts: human body modeling and animation.
