DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Teach undergraduate communication
courses based upon individual preparation and experience and
department needs. See department web site for more details about our
majors and curriculum http://www.cord.edu/dept/splash/csta 2) Assist
with the maintenance, development, and teaching of curriculum in
public relations/corporate communication. Additional teaching
opportunities may be available in the areas of new media technology,
advertising, media writing, human resources development, or
intercultural communication. 3) Co-advise department sponsored public
relations club. 4) Teach the college required basic public speaking
course, as do all department faculty. 5) Participate in department
projects and college-wide activities including internship supervision
and student advisement.
SELECTION CRITERIA: Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching;
Evidence of an active program of scholarship; A commitment to liberal
learning and a philosophy in sympathy with the aims and objectives of
a liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America;
Doctorate in area of Communication Studies, completed or near completion.
DEPARTMENT: 13 full-time and 6 part-time faculty, including 3 faculty
in theatre. Currently, approximately 300 students are declared majors
or minors in the department. Classrooms are video equipped and
networked. The building also houses a state of the art television
center and a dedicated computer lab.
