I don't have trouble swallowing per se however I have sleep apnea -
where my throat closes up when I'm asleep. I've been to a variety of
Drs for this and my ENT specialist told me that the cartlidge in my
throat is thicker but more flexible than normal because of my AMC.
When I saw her because my endocrinologiest and I were considering
thyroid surgery she said I'd need surgery on the inside of my throat
too or first... I wish to heavens I could remember what the name of
that part of whatever's in our throats she said - but I can't. I would
suggest however that you see an ENT specialist.

            Hi Everyone

Besides swallowing problems are you having problems with slobbering? I am and times I find myself slobbering and doing it in public and not sure why....not realizing that I have done it until it is too late. I did see a throat specialist and he told me my esophagus is the width of a pencil. I also have a hiata hernia. Like you Patty "I am really concerned and confused
about why I am having increased difficulty." In my case I attribute it to aging. Also, I am having weakness, which I never had before in my left arm. My right foot is turning in and now developing problems with walking. Go figure. I am not considering any time soon surgery. I had enough of that. So far I can tolerate the pain.

Well, I hope for the best for you. Feel free to email me if you have further questions. Please tell me what they find out on your swallowing study. Take care and have a good day.
