Re: [Adults AMC] Driving
- Just thought I'd add this, even though I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it
before: for those having trouble figuring what to do for steering, have you
tried a smaller wheel? 3rd party manufacturers of "racing" wheels make wheels
as small as 10" in diameter. The best part is, on most modern cars, the
installation takes no more than 15 minutes. The wheel is usually held on by
nothing more than a bolt.
Even better, "racing" wheels typically cost between $100 and $300. I got my
Momo Millenium for $300, and not only does it look slick as snot (brushed
aluminum spokes with chrome ring in the center and black leather grip) it is
also much easier for me to use. My wheel is 13", but Momo makes wheels, like
I said, as small as 10". IIRC, someone even manufactures an 8" wheel.
Obviously, the only downside is you lose your airbag. I sit a bit close for
comfort with an airbag anyway, so it didn't bother me disabling it. I even
did the installation myself, so it's not difficult. Although loosening the
bolt was a bitch and a half.. :)
For those interested, www.imotorgear.com has good prices on steering wheels.
Just a thought.
