Re: [aloha-donblanding] Re: Dialogue
- Happy Lei Day from Sunny Hawaii. It was great to see a ton of lei sellers downtown today. I bought leis for all of my employees today in honor of the man himself and am thinking about how great it will be to get a lei day contest going again. There were hundreds of people wearing leis and I was thinking how easy it would be to get a sponsor and some news time to reinvigorate the contest. Let's make sure to get it going for next year!!!
As for publishing and such, one of our subsidiaries is a small publishing house that is devoted to publishing works on Hawaii and the pacific and its history, culture adn the arts and a book or two on DB would certainly fit in. We can take a hard look at what it would take to get a book or books published on his works and on him and the like. Also, we are planning to do a calender with pics of pottery, bits of prose, and some of his prints so that would be a way to combine with the non-profit to make money. A postcard is a great idea as well and one that we can assist with. Hopefully, we can combine forces and make serious headway in the next year on these projects.
Hope all are having a great May Day and much aloha, Michael

Self-publishing by a non-profit organization is also possible. And,
besides receiving grants, such an organization can offer them, so
providing some financial support to a writer or artist to help
produce a book is certainly realistic.
Nice to see some brainstorming going on here...
