      Dear Alochoks,

September 2003 issue of Alochona Magazine released! This issue discussed
about the current education system of Bangladesh including activities of
      different private and government universities.

Education, with no doubt, is one of the most important factors for the
development of Bangladesh. In other word, Bangladesh badly needed to be
educated with international standard to enhance its development at least
similar to its neighbors. Literacy rate should not be any standard of
measurement for the education. Though it is not easy to educate a whole
nation with such high standard, but there is no other choice. With this in
mind, we bring you the September 2003 magazine issue with the theme of
      "Education".

The defective education system in Bangladesh is preventing us from nurturing
and shaping tomorrow's leaders, which is a must needed for development of
country. With admission to government schools and universities becoming more
and more competitive, a lucrative new business area has arisen in the form
of private education. We are now beginning to see private schools and
universities pop up in every street corner without following due process.
Many of these institutions employ instructors with little or inadequate
qualification thereby providing students with sub-standard education.

However, it is not just private education in Bangladesh that is below par.
Due to lack of funding, innovation and dynamism, government run educational
institutions are also far behind the international standards of education.

Education has been a constant theme in Alochona Forum, reflecting the
importance it plays in nation building. Several Alochoks give their insights
on the current education system of Bangladesh, along with comparative looks
in India for example, and discuss possible solutions.

This month's Editor's Choice has been taken from a recent insightful debate
from the Alochona forum, regarding illegal private universities in
      Bangladesh.

We hope you will enjoy the articles of this September issue on Education!
