Group Description

This is the home of the Georgette Heyer listserv, the longest-running group dedicated to the works of Georgette Heyer and the study of the Regency period.

Eileen Kendall founded this group as Heyer-L or the Heyer list in 1996. Originally it was an off-shoot of a Darcy/Colin Firth appreciation group. Eileen established the basic structure and rules to which we adhere today.

We usually discuss one of Heyer's books every month, interspersed with discussions of themes that run through Heyer's work.

As might be expected of a group dedicated to Georgette Heyer, the most basic rule of the list is that of politeness and propriety. We discuss the novels and the characters. We don't have flame wars and we avoid personal rudeness. Any issues should be referred to the Patronesses, who are happy to assist. In 1999, Anne Woodley became the Patroness of the Heyer list, joined later by Nancy Mayer.
