'Battlestar Galactica' Spin-off Latest in Long Line

      FC1

All great shows deserve a spin-off. The latest to prove this adage?

      "Battlestar Galactica."

As the science fiction series, which itself was spawned by the 1978 series of the same name, enters its final season, the Sc-Fi Channel has announced a prequel to take its place in their schedule.

Our Top 10 list of classic TV spin-offs.

"Caprica," starring Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales, is scheduled to start production in 2009 and make its debut in 2010.

For all of you "Galactica" heads, the story takes place 50 years before the current series started, and focuses on the planet Caprica, and the development of the Cyclons.

      Sweet.

                  John,

                  Who pissed in your Wheaties?

You S.A.D. acting up during this period of earliest sunsets of the year?

Similar stories don't guarantee one was inspired by the other.

Every sci fi moving involving a monster lose on a terrestrial or space-traveling ship need not necessarily owe its inspiration to Alien.

Some story-lines are just too basic not to be thought up by different people at different times or even closely in time.

Actually, there are basically just a handful of different stories that can be told with innumerable different milieus and characters but the same basic plot-lines.

                  Surly Mod
