The hollow Earth of the "Macuxies"

Today, after some weeks of rest we return to Underground Chronicles.

After this brief reccess we kept gathering information about the subeterranean world, info that our blog readers will read during the course of this year.

Since our advice, this site will not give a rest to the themes you know in this place. As a warm up we give you the first subterranean post of 2009.

This story has some time arround, its original souce is unknown, but it is part of the spoken folklore of the old southamerican tribes. It's stage is the northen Brazil and the narrators are the macuxies, a mysterious tribe of natives of the Amazonian jungle. This narration, has to be told, it's linked to the theory of the Hollow Earth.

Our regular blog readers know our stance on this thesis, wich we don't accept, but we don't close all doors.

Beyond disputes, we can recognize the particular macuxi vision of the mysteries of the inner Earth, some signals near to the great native tragedy wich fell upon this continent after the conquest began.
Let's hope that somewhere, kind giants like the ones that once helped the macuxies exist.

The last macuxies (from the northern Amazon) tell us that, until year 1907 they entered a cavern and walked from 13 to 15 days until they reached the interior. There, "at the other side of the world", live the "big men", whom measured from 10' to 11'6''. They're really nice but you have to follow their indications.

The main motto of the macuxies this place, was to look out for the entrance of the cavern, keeping out everyone who was not an authorized member of the tribe. When the great wind wich ran troughthe great tunnel began blowing outside, (it had a rythm of 5 days blowing out and other 5 blowing in) they could start climbing down the stairs (About 33'' each step) and the stairs ended at the third day (they kept record of the days with thir stomachs and sleep time, wich is pretty accurate)

They left there too the breos (torches made of sticks impregnated with tar from nearby oil ponds), and they carried on iluminated by lights that were just there, as big as a watermelon and clear as a bulb. Each passing day they walked faster, since they lost weight and corporal mass. They crossed 5 well marked places, trought some huge caverns whose ceiling they could not see. There were (in one of the chambers) four sun-like lights, impossible to stare at, but surely not as high as the sun it self.

On this place crew some trees with good fruti, like cajúes, oaks, mangos, bananas and some lesser plants. Comparising some macuxies places, this chamber would have about 10 square kilometers of "passable" and vegetated surface; and some other sectors were out of reach and very dangerous, with boling stone and creeks of "azoge" (quicksilver, wich they learned its use to gather the golddust, due the "garimpeiros" wich today pollute with it the amazonian waters). After this five huge chambers, in a point beyond half way, they should hang to walls and move carefully, because the "flew" (They were in zero gravity like an astronaut)

The wind wich had begun to blow outside, it wasn't an obstacle when they started the drop, but if they attempted it backwards, the turmoil of the whirlwind could drag them to the abismal tunnel, and the corpse –battered about a thousand times- won't stop until one day of path down the cave. Respecting this cicle, starting their march against the wind (wich it was for their own safety) they climbed down three days on the stairs and after two days of march on a narrow stair-less tunnel, the wind blew back inside, hece they watched their steps since the days they departed, to not leave loose stones on their path wich would hit them in the back. Even with the wind on their favor -about day 7 or 8 of their march-, they reached the place where "everything flies", wich is the center of the Earth's crust. (the middle of the mass, magnetically speaking, wich is not the geometrial center of the Earth, but any point in the middle of the tick of the crust).

Sometimes the wind was so strong, and istead using the walls to impulse themselves, they should do it to stop and avoid being hit. The gravity-less travel usually lasted from a few hours to 36 hours. Sometimes they should hang to the rocky edges o to metal pieces that were in the rock there before they passed by, and wait two days until the wind died. Then they followed the road characterized by creeks with cold water that passes trough the cavern and fell in a void, larger than the previous ones, where lied some brilliant stuff, with the same shape than bee hives, about 10 meters of diameter, placed above a seedling, like a tree´s log, at a height imprecise by the memory of the last macuxies who live remembering that, still with fear to retaliation from "the Big Men"

The traveles were gaining weight again, but they didn't got it all back, because they got out in "the land in the other side", where everything is lighter, the sun is red and it's always daytime, without night, stars or moon. They remained there a few days enjoying some nearby beaches, getting younger as the time passed by. (This reminds of Apolo who traveled to Olympus to rejuvenate). Macuxies knew perfectly the Atlantic ocean, since they were –outside- about 200 miles from the coast and this wasn`t the sea. The giants gave them some big and delicious fishes, and its meat didn't rotted until two or three months after being fished. With this precious cargo, apples bigger than a human head and grapes fist-sized. Besides a lot of body energy, they came back accompanied by some giants who helped them to carry the enormous weight they carried back. The returning trip started with the wind blowing on their backs, to have it again in there on the last stage of the journey, when they climbed the stairs the last three days , whose ruins exists nowadays.

The belief (or knowledge) of the macuxies, is that if they follow the rules given by the giants, after they die here in the outsidem they'll reborn in there, among them. They tell that some macuxies didn't died, but they transformed (transfigurated?) in half giants and they stayed inside. This requiered mainly, not having offspring in the outside.

Tragedy came to the macuxies in 1907. Three british explorers, reached in the name of her queen searching for diamonds. Macuxi's lands still have some diamonds today, but it has been exploded since 1912 that there are almost none in there, making their extraction barely or non profitable. When the english came, there was enough to please the queen and many greedy people who got rich, exploiting the native, but one of those "Authorized travelers to the center of the earth" made a terrible mistake violating the motto of their secret, and told the foreginers the entrance place.

One of them sent a setter to Her Majesty, reapeting her a tale like this one, with some more details. In the beaches of the inner lands, there's an abunance of diamonds, just like is in some carbon mines of serpentine, from ancient volcanic shafts, wich are today, precisely, those tunnels to the interior of the world. The three ment went out (or went in) in an expedition, but they did not came back ever again. In their place, the giants came out, punished the macuxies and they banned them to enter inside ever again.

Alter two years of poverty and angst (That zone, in the outer surface had diamonds –useless for them back then-, but lacked fruit and fish), they chose to attempt a new contact with the giants, despise the banning. They traveled with hopes for two days, but they reached a point in the path where the wind came from a cavern that did not knew. The original road was collpased. Some of them returned inmediately, but some other choose to follow the new and unknown path. Several months later one of them came back and tell the others that they could come inside, but they could never go out ever again, because more english would come in their land and hurt them. Some of them refused to go, because the place assigned to them was one of those huge caves. Some toher accepted to gio and never came back.

Years later, the garampeiros started to arrive, to pollute the rivers with zarandas, resumidoras and quicksilver and to destoy the minds of the macuxies that stayed behind with drugs. They also clouded their minds with whips and their race, raping their women. During june or july of 1946 there was a huge collapse in the túnel, destroying almost all the stair. Today there's only some steps at the beggining of it and a huge and unclimbable pit where the wind blows with different rythms. Some old macuxies who escaped the english whip, and they still live counting their age in moons, don´t give upp entirelly to forget the Lost Paradise. A suitable phrase, because they knew it... and lost it.

              Hi,

It's a very interesting story about the Macushi people of northern Brazil and Guyana, for sure. If there were any "English" people sniffing around, it was probably throught the colony of Guyana connection.

The claim that there are remains of a stone building ( stone stairs) is big news! The contemporary archeologists in Brazil should know about it by now, then. We need to investigate more. But why is this story in Spanish, originally? I should sooner expect it to be written in Portuguese.

One thing that can be rejected was the interpretation of where they were. They felt that they had arrived at the hollow earth. Well, they described that commonly reported phenomenon of diminuition of gravity after a certain amount of penetration through the crust, i.e., at a certain depth. (Etidorhpa stipulates that this happens after 50 miles below) Even so, they could have arrived at a huge cavern world, but not the hollow cavity.

But I, personally, don't out and out reject this folkloric narration.

                            Is this your translation, majdca?

It appears to have been translated from the Spanish. Who was the original Spanish author?

I also found a very similar article.

I have rewritten both articles a bit to get it as one tale. I would like permission from the copyright holder(s) to publish the excerpts / or most of their tale in my e-book Aeneid Liber Sextus.

I received a copy in Spanish about ten years ago from Dennis Crenshaw. I translated it, and as I mentioned, my translation is here:

Dennis might have some information on the original writer.

I managed to track down the original author of the Macuxi tale. He provided me with a Spanish text, which I translated into Dutch and into Spanish, and he gave me permission to publish that text.

Several years ago I had translated the sixth book of the Aeneid from the Latin into Dutch and English and published those translations as e-books. The English title of my e-book is "Aeneid Liber Sextus" - by Dirk Bontes. (Nobody bought them, so I am still dirt poor.) http://iturl.nl/snWdY

This book describes the voyage to and travel through the Underworld by the Trojan hero Aeneas. In my interpretation and translation of the text the Underworld was (and is) a huge space habitat and Aeneas went there by means of a spaceshuttle.
In my interpretation Aeneas returned to Earth by means of a stargate. It is by means of such stargates, which used to be hidden in the depths of the Earth at various locations, that people might get access to the space habitat of the Underworld. The Hollow Earth is a hollow space habitat - but it is not in the Earth, but in space. It is only its stargate accesses that are or were hidden in the depths of the Earth.

In my - revolutionary - translation in brief comments I deduce the technological features in the Underworld as described and implied by the Latin text.

When I happened to read the Macuxi tale, I was struck by the many agreements with the Underworld as described by me in Aeneid Liber Sextus. Having been given permission to publish the Macuxi tale by the original author, I added it as an additional chapter to Aeneid Liber Sextus and uploaded the new update of this e-book to my Internet publisher Smashwords on 25 October 2015.

I have since also written about the Underworld of the Green Children of Woolpit in my e-book about Zwarte Piet, but that latter e-book is in Dutch only; except for one chapter about highwayman Dick Turpin, and one chapter about Australian Bushrangers - both of which I translated into English and published as independent e-books; they also have a bit about the Underworld.

I have corresponded with a couple of people from this group when I became a member in September. It occurred to me today that I ought to report back to them. Hence this post.
