Monthly Reminder Message from the Alamos News Mailing List
      ==========================================================

This is a reminder message sent each month to all members
of the Alamos News mailing list.

      POSTING GUIDELINES

The following guidelines for posting messages to the Alamos
News list have been developed with the participation of
      Group members:

-- Keep your messages brief: generally 100 words or less.

-- Please be civil and do *not* post using all caps.
(Using all caps is considered SHOUTING!)

-- Use *meaningful subject lines*! Choose a subject line that
reflects the content of your message. Many list members
scan subject lines to identify which messages to read and
respond to. A message with a meaningful subject line is
much more likely to receive a response than one simply
      titled "Help."

-- No derogatory personal comments are allowed.

-- Comments on issues of public interest, such as the water
situation or the music festival, are welcome, but should
be brief and contain ideas or suggestions, rather than
      just opinion.

-- No creative writing (poems, stories, etc.) will be accepted.

-- Commercial enterprises are allowed one posting per week.

-- Many people have very busy inboxes. Please be considerate
and don't clutter the list with unnecessary postings.

-- No attachments of any kind are allowed. This means that if
you forward an e-mail message to the group as an
attachment, Yahoo Groups will strip off the attachment
before it reaches the members of the group. Copy the text
of the message and paste it into the body of the message
      before sending.

-- If you want people to be able to contact you by a means other
than e-mail, be sure to include sufficient information in
the *body* of your e-mail message, for example, a phone
      number or street address.

-- Always end your e-mail message with your name and e-mail
address. Some host systems strip out e-mail headers, which
means that people using those systems will have no way to
contact you. You can ensure that everyone knows who your
message is from by concluding it with your name and e-mail
      address.

-- When replying to a post, only include the part of the post
directly involved in your reply. Delete the rest! This is
a courtesy to the person you are replying to. If you
are also sending the reply to the entire list, trimming the
unnecessary parts of your post reduces the size of the
Digest so that people don't have to scroll through long
      sections of irrelevant text.

-- If you receive messages in digest form, please change the
subject line in your reply from "Digest xxxx" to the topic
of your post. Also, delete the remainder of the digest,
      as above.

Suggestions regarding these guidelines are always welcome.

      RESPONDING TO MESSAGES

When you hit "Reply" in your email software, your response
will go *only* to the person who made the original post. If you
want your response to be seen by the entire group, change the
email address in your reply to:

      <alamosnews@yahoogroups.com>

HOW TO SWITCH TO 'DAILY DIGEST' FROM 'INDIVIDUAL EMAILS' MODE:

Here are the steps to follow to receive just one email message from
Alamos News each day as a "digest," a group of messages in one bundle:

      1) Click on this link and sign in to Yahoo Groups with your
      user name and password
      <http://groups.yahoo.com/>

      2) On the opening screen, on the left-hand side, you should see
a frame entitled "My Groups" with a list of the groups you
      are a member of.

      3) In the same frame, click on "Manage" (to the right of "My Groups").

      4) A new page will appear with a list of your Yahoo Groups.
The "View Groups" tab will be highlighted.

      5) Click on "Edit My Groups" (next to the "View Groups" tab).

      6) On the far right-hand side of the page is a column entitled
"Message Delivery." On the line for "alamosnews," the entry will
      say "Individual Emails."

      7) Click on the down arrow (a little upside-down triangle) to pull
down a menu with the delivery options.

      8) Select "Daily Digest" and click.

      9) Click on "Save Changes" at the bottom-right of the screen.

      10) You will be returned to the "My Groups" screen. The setting under
the "Message Delivery" column should now read "Daily Digest."

      11) You can now sign out as usual.

That's it! Remember, if you choose to reply to a message contained in
the digest message, you will need to click on the email address of the
person who sent the message. If you just hit the "Reply" button in your
browser, your reply will be sent to the entire group. Don't forget to
change the subject line to something other than "Daily Digest #nnn"!!

Monthly Reminder Message from the Alamos News Mailing List
        ==========================================================

This is a reminder message sent each month to all members
of the Alamos News mailing list.

        POSTING GUIDELINES

The following guidelines for posting messages to the Alamos
News list have been developed with the participation of
        Group members:

-- Keep the focus on Alamos.

Questions or information in your post should relate
directly to living in or traveling to Alamos or environs.
Please refrain from posting junjk messages, such as cute stories
favorite recipes, or posts forwarded from other lists unless
it is directly relevant to life in Alamos.

-- Keep your messages brief: generally 100 words or less.

-- Use a descriptive subject line.

Choose a subject line that reflects the content of your
message. When members receive messages from Alamos News, the
first thing they see is the subject line. Many list members
scan subject lines to identify which messages to read and
respond to. A message with a descriptive subject line is
much more likely to receive a response than one simply titled "Help."

-- Please be civil and do not post using all caps.

(Using all caps is considered SHOUTING!)

-- No derogatory personal comments or ad hominen attacks are allowed.

        -- Avoid "me too" posts.

If you want to reply to a post only to convey that you agree
with a message or have had a similar experience, please send
your reply directly to the originator of the post. Such "me too"
posts do nothing to advance the discussion for group members
as a whole, and simply clutter up in-boxes.

-- Comments on issues of public interest, such as the water
situation, the music festival, or general public safety in
and around Alamos are welcome, but should be brief and
contain ideas or suggestions, rather than just opinion.

-- No creative writing (poems, stories, etc.) will be accepted.

-- Posts of a commercial nature, whether by an individual or a
business enterprise, are limited to one in any seven-day period.

-- Insert a blank line between paragraphs. Also, enclose URL's
(web addresses) and email addresses within angle brackets
(like these: < > ) to avoid problems when a line has to be
        wrapped.

-- No attachments of any kind are allowed.

Yahoo Groups strips off attachments before messages are sent
out. This means that if you forward an e-mail message to
the group as an attachment, it will never reach the list
members. To forward an email message, first copy the text
of the message and paste it into the body of the message
        before sending.

        -- Trim your posts.

When replying to a post, include only the part of the post
directly involved in your reply. Please delete the rest. This
is a courtesy to the person to whom you are replying. If you
are also sending the reply to the entire list, trimming the
unnecessary parts of your post reduces the size of the Daily
Digest so that people don't have to scroll through long
        sections of irrelevant text.

-- If you receive messages as a Daily Digest, please change the
subject line in your reply from "Digest xxxx" to the topic of
your post. Also, delete the remainder of the digest, as above.

-- If you want people to be able to contact you by a means other
than e-mail, be sure to include sufficient information in
the body of your e-mail message, for example, a phone
        number or street address.

-- Always conclude your e-mail message with your name and e-mail
address. Some host systems strip out e-mail headers, which
means that people using those systems will have no way to
contact you. You can ensure that everyone knows who your
message is from by concluding it with your name and e-mail
        address.

Suggestions regarding these guidelines are always welcome.

        RESPONDING TO MESSAGES

When you hit "Reply" in your email software, your response
will go *only* to the person who made the original post. If you
want your response to be seen by the entire group, change the
email address in your reply to:

        <alamosnews@yahoogroups.com>
