SPEAKER: Chris Ridgeway, Vulcan Materials Company
He received a BS and MS in Geology from the University of Alabama and is a licensed Professional Geologist. Prior to moving to Birmingham in 2004, he lived in Daphne, AL and worked in the environmental industry as a project and program manager for environmental restoration projects at dozens of DoD facilities across the country. At Vulcan Materials Company, he serves as a Senior Principal Geologist and provides geologic, GIS, and petrographic technical services. His expertise lies in 3D computer modeling and the development of automated databases. His talk today will focus on ESRI’s recently released ArcGIS.com. ArcGIS.com is a website for creating, using, and sharing maps and other types of geographic information, and it’s completely free. Today, he will demonstrate this new and exciting application by building a web map and application using Catoma Falls and the Union Chapel Mine as examples.
