Searchable by state or by subject, the American Local History network is
a fascinating acculumulation of local history sites. It seems to
be strongest on geneology, but other topics have been included.

Each section has a volunteer editor, but the list of topics is
      limited
      at
the moment, and many sections are waiting for volunteer editors.

Topics include "Antiques, Art, Architecture and Bridges, and Aviation under
      the letter "a."

Other topics chosen at random include "poor houses" "women,"
      "churches and religion," and "food."
