Just a clarification. The Archives and History web site county history of Lowndes County (http://www.archives.state.al.us/counties/lowndes.html) notes that Lowndes County is in the Black Belt. It further states that Letohatchee, Lowndesboro, Fort Deposit and White Hall are towns within the county, as is the county seat of Hayneville.
