Subject: Job Opening at Alabama Heritage--Please pass the word.

      Dear friends and colleagues:

Last week we posted a job opening for a full-time, salaried “Digital
Media Editor,” who can take Alabama Heritage into new online and
digital territory. We will be posting ads in the state’s newspapers,
but I felt that you all might have a better chance of getting the word
to the best candidates. The person does not have to be a history
expert, but enjoying history is a plus. More importantly, I need a
great left-brain-right-brain blend--someone who can figure out the
technical side of things (or negotiate with others to help), while
making online presentations attractive. The person needs to be able to
write and edit, with a marketing orientation. A bachelor’s degree in a
      related field is required.

If you would spread it to your circles, I would appreciate it. Please
ask them to apply to the UA job site (jobs.ua.edu), rather than
directly to me. The job is posted under the burdensome and off-putting
official university title of “IT Technical Assistant II,” but the
title the magazine will use is “Digital Media Editor.” Please tell
candidates not to be intimidated by the techno-language of the online
job ad. We only have control of the “department-specific requirements”
      language in that system.

Here is the newspaper ad—with much more detail available in the online posting:

      Digital Media Editor

Alabama Heritage magazine seeks creative, technically skilled editor
for development of digital and online assets.
Tuscaloosa/Northport-based.  Apply online at http://jobs.ua.edu (see
      IT Technical Specialist II—Req 006888) by 7/9/12. EOE/AA.

      Thanks,

      Donna Baker
