      Join us on Sunday, April 29 from 6 - 9 p.m. in Capitol Park (2800 Sixth Street 35401) for the 1st annual Jazz in the Park®  Tuscaloosa concert hosted by Magic City Smooth Jazz . The line-up will include guitarist Keith Williams, jazz flutist Kim Scott, and University of Alabama Jazz Ensemble

      Keith Williams

      Music Entrepreneur- Guitarist Keith Williams has become one of the most prominent musicians in the Southeast. He has done several studio sessions and live performances in addition to touring with Ruben Studdard 2003 - 2006. Keith started playing at the early age of five years old which led to him getting accepted into Berklee College of Music in 1995 where he produced and recorded his first self-titled CD.
      In 2000, Keith released his second CD - “Set the Mood ” which received rave reviews with national and public airplay. Since then, Keith has started his own record label (Lenoah Records) overseeing and developing new talent. Keith, known for his smooth style and touch has done it again with his third release titled “New Birth.” 

       Kim Scott
      Kim Scott is one of the most sought after flutists in both the classical and jazz fields.  Born in Birmingham, Alabama, she has performed across the country and abroad since 2000 in recitals, concerts, and with her flute and harp ensemble, Kimoni Duo,
      Ms. Scott has also been featured as a soloist with professional combos and orchestras across the United States and South America.  Currently, she is Chair of the Department of Music at the Alabama School of Fine Arts where she also teaches flute.
      Kim Scott's album, "Crossing Over", was released on June 19, 2011 on the Lenoah Records label.  The album was produced by the label's CEO, Keith "Cashmere" Williams.  Known for her hauntingly unique tone and for her polished technique, Kim Scott is a fresh sound for today's increasingly popular smooth and urban jazz music industry. 

      University of Alabama Jazz Ensemble

      Directed by Chris Kozak. The UA Jazz Ensemble provides a professional atmosphere for students interested in the many aspects of jazz. This award winning group has performed at numerous jazz festivals, including: Notre Dame Collegiate Jazz Festival, Mobile Jazz Festival, Wichita Jazz Festival to name a few and performs throughout the region in schools and conferences. Its repertoire covers musical styles from the 1940s to contemporary arrangements, including those written and arranged by students. This group is the nucleus for the Hilaritas ensemble. The Jazz Ensemble is open by audition to any student, regardless of major.  Recent notable performances:  Featured ensemble at the Jazz Education Network in St. Louis, MO (Spring 2010) and featured ensemble at the 2nd Annual Tallassee, AL Jazz Festival (Spring 2012)

      Access: Jazz in the Park®  Tuscaloosa is a free event to the public.  

      Coolers are permitted in the park. Please note, there will be no food vendors and no alcohol is allowed in Capitol Park.  Help keep our parks/streets clean, place all trash in trash receptacles. 

      Absolutely no Grills are allowed while attending concerts for Jazz in the Park® . Failure to abide by this rule will be enforced by concert organizer.

      Seating: Bring a lawn chair to enjoy the performances on the grass at Capitol Park. 

      Parking is located on streets near the venue.  Please secure your vehicle as concert organizers and venue are not responsible for stolen property.

      Umbrellas: Only allowed in the up position between acts and must come down while artists are performing. Please wear a hat and bring sunscreen because shade is limited at the concert.

      Smoking: Jazz in the Park®  is promoting a smoke-free event this summer. Please be considerate of your non-smoking colleagues.

      CD Sales/Signings: Each artist’s CDs will be on sale at each park. Photos with artists are permissible.
