2011 AHA Pilgrimage ~ Tuskegee
On Saturday, October 22, members of the Alabama Historical Association will make our first ever pilgrimage to Tuskegee. A terrific line-up of speakers and tours will be highlighted in the forthcoming AHA Newsletter, but you'll want to call now to reserve your accommodations at the Kellog Hotel & Conference Center on the campus of Tuskegee University.
Call the Kellogg Center at 334-727-3000 and ask for the Alabama Historical Association rate of $89.00 (double room) for Friday, October 21. Reservations must be made by September 22.
· An overview of Tuskegee's history by T. C. Coley, Jr., executive director of the Human & Civil Rights Multicultural Center
· Talks by recent biographers of famed Tuskegee scientist George Washington Carver and pathbreaking architect Robert Taylor
· Tours of the newly expanded Tuskegee University Archives, the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site (with authors of the new illustrated history), the Historic Butler Chapel AME Zion Church, and more!
